Let's see... To beat Adm. Bonz, I need:
-Washington state and Tenessee to move on with Washington winning
-Texas to move on.
-West Kentucky move on. There are 4 brackets in the next round that won't effect either of us. Yeah, I may not completely lose! :p

About 10 minutes to go in the first half, and X is schooling WVU right now. 26-10 and doing everything right. Assuming they win and UCLA gets by Western Ky, that will be an intriguing game.

North Carolina is struggling against Wash. St... and that honestly does not surprise me. Wasu came into this tournament with a good rep for strong defense. No way was I expecting Carolina to be putting up 3 figures on them. This Ellington for he Tar Heels... wow he has a sweet shot. Leave him open at your peril

UNC pulled away at the end of the first half. I honestly don't see the Cougs winning it, although it would be awesome if they did.

Xavier looking good. I picked em. :)

EDIT: Is anyone else having network trouble watching the video at ncaasports.com? In the first two rounds it was nearly perfect but here it keeps stuttering and jumping around. Not sure if the problem is at my end or if it is congestion at the site.

The roles have switched indeed. UNC has a sizable lead in the second half, and X is now the one struggling with WVU. Much as I dislike Huggins, the man can coach.

Cougs go down as expected. Bummer. At least I picked the Tar Heels.

Xavier / WV in overtime.

EDIT: What a pass and shoot for Xavier with only two left on the shot clock! Xavier didn't let me down. :)

X wins out, but I gotta feel for WVU star Joe Alexander. To make such a great shot to go ahead and then MISS that free throw that probably would have clinched it in regulation .... :(
But Josh Duncan for X was a monster, even with his foul trouble. 9/10 form the free throw line!

UNC's win over Wasu was definitely their best one yet. No, they didn't score over 100, but they instead won with defense. And that was no pansy, wimpy team they played either. The Cougars were a legitimate #4 seed and really a worthy opponent.

I have three brackets in yahoo and the Trekbbs one is faring the worst of the bunch - figures, right?

But I'm leading my Dad's work pool!

Western Kentucky made it interesting for a while, but my champions survive. I lose Tennesee though, and drop to a 5th place tie. :( Still on track to win though, if my picks hold out... As long as UCLA defeats Kansas in the final, I'm good. :)

Great night of College Basketball. How the heck does UCLA do it. They don't win big, and the games turn out to be more exciting than they should be. Kevin Love is a stud.

I'm happy with where I'm at right now and that's all I'm going to say about that. ;) Hopefully tomorrow will be another good day.

Yeah, Love had a monster game, and his team needed every bit of it. 29 pts, 14 bds .... and I think he's right there for the record of a freshman with the most points through the first 3 games. But then he was the PAC-10 player of the year, wasn't he? And don't forget the UCLA center (I think), Keefe. He had 18 pts and 12 bds, which made for a nasty 1-2 punch on the inside. I really thought that UCLA was in trouble when Collison fouled out. As it is, they had too much for WKy to overcome.

Ought to be a fascinating game with Xavier Saturday night. The Musketeers are very deep and talented, but UCLA has good height and excellent defense. The Louisville-UNC game ought to be just plain ol' FUN to watch!!!

Still true for me, and I've got the 'highest remaining seeds wining' thing going for my bracket, so there's a decent chance. I'll at least be in the top couple this year unless something wonky happens...

Yeah, you're looking pretty good to at least be in the top few at the end. I'm tied for third right now and have a reasonable shot at still pulling it off. If all the lower seeds win, my brother, Dad and myself will end up 2nd and 3rd. If all the higher seeds win, I'll drop out of the top 10.

Nice to see Davidson move on to the next round. Fairly convincingly, too. Lower seeds winning some games is better for me than all higher seeds winning, so it doesn't hurt my bracket either.

Great snippet regarding Davidson I heard from Jemele Hill on Rome's TV show today: Davidson's chancellor and top dogs all put up $100,000 of their own money to get a bus, 2 nights in a hotel and tickets to the game for 30 students to be able to attend tonight for free. That's pretty impressive in this day and age. Kudos to them.

Last night's games were pretty much the antithesis to the tournament as a whole. None of the games was competitive in the end. Davidson/Wisconsin was for a half, but that was it. And I have to say it is a real joy to watch Stephen Curry shoot, such a pure shooter he is. It's hard to remember a player who was so consistently deadly if left open. Can you imagine what his Dad is feeling as he watches his own son torch the opposition for 30+ a night?!?!

I think Memphis is in for a rude awakening when they play Texas on Sunday. The Longhorns have the combination of speed and strength to match up nicely with Memphis... and Texas can shoot freethrows. ;)

CNN/SI implies that that it was a lot more than 30 students.
When the final buzzer sounded, the Davidson fans bounced up and down and a few chanted, ''Rock, chalk, Jayhawk!'' in reference to top-seeded Kansas. This is exactly what Davidson's happy band of travelers was hoping when it boarded all those buses. The Board of Trustees paid the way - bus fare, tickets and a hotel room - for students who wanted to make the 11-hour ride from North Carolina, and a few hundred took them up on the offer.
That makes the gesture even more noteworthy.
