NBC and Bryan Fuller remaking The Munsters

Well, the casting is interesting to say the least, the first set/make-up photos are definitely going to be interesting.
Maybe they will use the look of the book Frankenstein monster instead of the old Universal film version.

Portia De Rossi To Play Lily Munster In NBC’s ‘Munsters’ Reboot ‘Mockingbird Lane’

Portia de Rossi, known for her platinum blonde locks, is taking on one of TV’s best known brunettes — Lily Munster. The Arrested Development and Better Off Ted alumna is set to play the female lead in NBC’s Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane.

Mariana Klaveno had previously been cast as Lily Munster but the deal was contingent on her being released from ABC’s pilot Devious Maids, where she was a regular. However, Devious Maids producer ABC Studios did not release Klaveno or agree to make her a recurring on the project, which is in consideration for a series pickup at Lifetime, sending NBC back to the drawing board.

I haven't been sure of what to make of this yet. While alot of them aren't people I'd cast, the entire cast is made up of talent people who I would be glad to watch on a weekly basis. After his work on Trek, Dead Like Me, and Pushing Daisies I'm willing to give Bryan Full the benefit of the doubt, so I'm more than willing to give this a try when it comes out.

I just looked this up on wikipedia, and it did same that the makeup will be toned down to make the characters look more human.

That is the tricky thing. Marilyn stood out from the rest of the family because see looked "normal". Which back than meant traditional (very white bread middle class). But what is "normal" these days? We have so much diversity in appearance and fashion. Its going to harder to make the family look strange unless they do look inhuman.

I figure Fuller is doing The Munsters the way Ron Moore did BSG - he's just using a familiar name to make the suits more confident in the project (and give them a way of covering their asses in case of failure) and if we evict the original from our minds, we'll be better off for it. :D

Yea, Marilyn looks great. With all the seemingly uncoventional decisions that have been made so far with this project, it's surprising to see such a fantastic looking Traditional Marilyn

With her oddball retro look, the idea is probably for Marilyn to be a freak like the rest of the family, rather than the old idea of her being a freak only in comparison with the rest of the family. Still works.
