NBA Season 2021-2022 The Year of the Prodigal Son(s)

Those Prodigal Sons being, Ben Simmons of the 76ers, and Kyrie Irving of the Nets.

Ben Simmons, who’s holding out because of hurt feeling, has been hurt by fans and management’s dissatisfaction with Ben’s inability to adequately perform some very basic job requirements. Appears that Ben may be on his way back into the fold.

Kyrie Irving of the Nets is holding out based on his belief that COVID vaccines are poison. Check that, this is what he WAS saying. Now he’s saying that he is fighting for the rights of others to endanger themselves, their families, and others, or something. Nah, he’s an idiot whose actions are based solely on selfishness, stupidity, ego, etc. Nets have put the onus on him, saying that he can only practice and play if he complies with city COVID protocols. Your move Kyrie.

Got lots more to say. Regular season starts October 19. Looking forward to it.

Memphis 152, Oklahoma City 79, the largest margin of victory in the history of the NBA.

The Chicago Bulls are back, baby!!!

I only keep an eye on the standings nowadays. NBA really isn't my bag, I watched a lot back in the championship era. But the Bulls are looking surprisingly good so far this year. The 9 game win streak and last night's 46 point steamrolling of the lowly Pistons. That's exactly what a good team should do to a bad team.

Dear Steph Curry:

Would you please STOP GETTING HURT every time my youngest nephew comes to see you? This is the THIRD FUCKING TIME...they drive all thie way out there, and for nothin'...:brickwall:

The Bulls are scuffling now. 3-7 in their last 10. I could see getting rolled by the Warriors, or losing to another good team, but losing to the 8-39 Magic?

As a Grizzlies, I wont go so far as to say fan, but viewer and former Memphian, I am beginning to feel a very strange unknown sensation or feeling.. hope.. renewed interest? Ja Morant can do no wrong this year. He had 34 points against the Wizards this weekend. Memphis is now 3rd in the west.

After the Celts mediocre start, they're on a 6 game winning streak and made big trades today.

Josh Richardson and Romeo Langford for Derrick White, and Dennis Shroeder and Enes Freedom for Daniel Theis. Derrick White seems like a great addition to the team and is at the start of a four year contract, and then the other deal seems like a cap space move which happens to bring in a solid guy who has already played with their stars.

Well, the “prodigal sons” have switched teams. I agree with StevenA that Morey got kinda hosed having to give up 2 firsts in addition to a guy who was a No. 1 pick, who is still very young and is super skilled in all areas of the game except shooting .

Morey gets the cancer that is James Harden. Wait till he starts giving Embiid those “looks.”

I can’t wait for the first Nets, Sixers game in Philly. It’s going to make LeBron’s first retire to Cle kook like a baby shower.

The bottom has officially fallen out of the Lakers season. We were routed by the Pels last night at Crypto. We might[/ii] make the play in tournament.

They were only too happy to pile on since we owe them our unprotected ‘22 1st founder. Not too concerned about losing the pick, except that it could have been a good trade asset.

So looking forward to the rest of the season.

You know, it's been years and years since I even watched a minute of an all star game. You know players aren't going to take any risk of injuring themselves in a game that doesn't count, but I've seen more effort put into defense in a Harlem Globetrotters game. They could at least put their arms up or something.

When I was in Vegas in November, I thought to myself, maybe I should put down 100 bucks on the Celtics winning a championship just for the hell of it. Didn’t do it.

Damn it. Probably could have gotten like 200:1 on that bet. Wonder what the odds would be now.

Where the hell were these Celtics hiding?!

Celtics now officially tied for 1st in the east.

How did a team that can play this great play so mediocre for half the season?!

The Lakers, man. It's hilarious and also a little sad. Before LeBron got there, Magic Johnson did a really good job assembling a core of talented young players. Then they shifted gears and went into win-now mode. It got them a ring, which is the whole point of the thing, but now they're paying for it. They're in for a dismal next few years, and I don't know if ownership and the fanbase are patient enough to endure losing until they have draft picks again, then lose some more while they assemble another young core that could grow together and slowly improve.

Even worse, the organization that created their success in the 80s, and again in the 2000s, has been almost totally dismantled. The GM has no basketball experience outside of being Kobe's agent, and nobody knows how much power he actually has because the owner's BFF and her husband, plus LeBron and his agent, all wield a lot of power on an unofficial basis. After LeBron retires or leaves, what superstar is going to want to come play for this dysfunctional garbage fire? The Lakers could become the West Coast version of the Knicks.
