NASA's making a big announcment on the 14th May 2008

After all these decades I was always under the impression we were looking for another earth like planet...that would be more important to me than any black hole or space anomaly.

They found a large black slab on the Moon, dimensions measuring 1 x 4 x 9.

Either that, or they found the Klingons around Uranus.

My guess is either discovery of an earth like extra-solar planet or extraterrestrial life.

How would Chandra be involved in finding an earth-like planet or life? But it does look like black hole observations are old news too.

What object have astronomers been looking for for over 50 years, that can be detected (perhaps inconclusively) using an x-ray telescope?

It's because Black Hole discoveries are old news that I think it is something different. Besides, X-ray emissions from the Central black hole were observed in 2001, any new information regarding this would likley be published in a press release without the need for a press conference.

*edit*

Also, after looking up some info on Chandra, I found that most main sequence stars are x-ray emitters, which lends credence to the earth like planet theory.
