One would think, with Eustace being the only return, that it would be easier to pursue The Silver Chair, and not have to worry about finagling cast raises into the budget.

Dawn Treader is now at just over $412 million worldwide, with $308 million of that coming from international markets, the Japanese release having gone very well. Prince Caspian made $419.6 million worldwide on a production budget $70 million higher than that of Dawn Treader.

Hopefully the news that Fox is moving ahead with further Narnia and Percy Jackson films will solidify and come to fruition. For the reasons I stated earlier in the thread, I'm not surprised Walden and Fox are looking to make The Magician's Nephew next instead of The Silver Chair, even though I'd prefer for the latter to be next in line.

I'm not really sure if I understand the reasoning. Why would they have to worry about cast raises at all if The Magician's Nephew is made up of an entirely new cast? Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point.

Tilda Swinton would return for a major part in The Magician's Nephew, but I don't think cast salaries are a big issue with this series in any event.

^ More like set budget would be primary concerns for a studio along with the special and visual effects most likely. Yeah Tilda MUST return to reprise Jadis.

Pretty much exactly what I've thought. Hopefully they can find a good cast, and as they wouldn't be big stars, pay raises wouldn't need to be an issue, aside from Tilda of course, but it seems like it should be manageable. Then they can focus on creating the unique setpieces like Charn and the creation of Narnia. I'm really looking forward to seeing those pieces come together. Reading about how Narnia came to be was a lot of fun, and I can just imagine seeing kids faces light up as it dawns on them how the lightpost got there :) That was an awesome moment to me and I'll be looking forward to seeing it happen on the screen.

Also if they got David Arnold back to score the film that'd be great. I enjoyed his Dawn Treader score. I like how he kept the themes and motifs that Gregson-Williams created but complimented them with his own work.

I picked up the standard DVD yesterday!
Did my economic part like a few others here to help show support for Narnia.

Anyone know why this DVD was released on a Friday vs the normal Tuesday?

Publishers have started doing Friday release dates for high-profile releases.

I picked up the 2-disc edition, and I've watched through some of the documentaries on the second disc. I haven't watched the animated short yet.

I was wondering about the Friday release, too.

I think Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is coming out next Friday.

With the latest international box office update, Dawn Treader is now up to just over $415 million worldwide.

I've pre-ordered the Blu-ray, which has its Region 2 release on Monday.

I don't think there's any need to continue tracking the box office now lol. "The Magician's Nephew" is basically confirmed. They probably only doing another one because of the overseas intake though.

I'm still tracking it as well. I'd like to see it get $105 million domestic (but it's got a huge hill to climb there) and climb over PC worldwide.
