He was one of two executive producers, in addition to three producers, on Dawn Treader. In movies, unlike in television, the title of producer generally carries more weight than the title of executive producer.

@Admiral Shran...I tend to agree with DonIago's reply to your question. This still seems like speculation on the article's part and until we get confirmation that is what Perry Moore was doing I don't think we can automatically leap and suggest he was seeking funding to the two books you mentioned. The article specifically states TMN, nothing else.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if they're looking to do The Magician's Nephew next instead of The Silver Chair. The latter would take a bigger budget than the former, plus they may well want to avoid bringing out another film involving giants too close to Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer.
It seems they were setting up The Silver Chair but at the same time one could say they wrapped a trilogy. Not knowing much about the books does the Jill character mentioned at the end of Dawn Treader appear in Nephew as well?
No, she doesn't. Neither does Eustace. The Magician's Nephew is a prequel featuring a boy and girl not seen in the first three movies. I'm sure their initial plan was to make The Silver Chair next, but it wouldn't surprise me if they changed direction for the reasons I stated above.
"The Magicians Nephew" features a young Professor Kirke and his friend Polly Plummer. It is also a Narnia creation story. It would appear that they were setting up "The Silver Chair" but as mentioned by Out of My Vulcan Mind it could be they changed their minds. Personally TMN is the movie I've most wanted to see aside from "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe". It's my favorite book. It also shows Tilda and how she became the White Witch and how the Lamp Post got to where it was.
Well, I might be wrong, but it seems to me that the Magician's Nephew might actually be the more expensive one to make since they've got to conceptualize everything due to everything completely different, not to mention finding new actors for all of the characters, unlike reusing actors for the other movies. A prequel story also seems more palatable at this point, and it would probably be easier for them to decide if they want to continue with more movies after it.
Isn't rehiring the same actors often -more- expensive than casting new talent, because they want more money to reappear?

My memories are a bit hazy now, but I remember SC feeling -very- episodic (moreso than Dawn Treader, which at least mostly wraps up the Pevensies), and I wouldn't feel a great sense of loss if that one didn't come to pass. I'd much rather see Magician's Nephew if it's a choice.

The cast of these films don't command big salaries, so that's not really much of a factor in either case. From memory The Silver Chair has scenes that would require a lot more FX - particularly in bringing the giants to life - than The Magician's Nephew.
You might be right, but then again it does depend on the actors. They might be young enough to just be glad in to be in a movie in the first place and not want to risk being replaceable if they ask for too much.

The thing about doing a Magician's Nephew movie is there's no time restrictions on it -- it's almost an entirely new cast (except for the White Witch), so they don't have to worry about the children growing up or whatever.

After that you couldn't go back to Eustace and Jill.

Yeah, I agree, especially since there's a clock running on the actor who plays Eustace aging out of the part. Of course they could re-cast down the line, but it would be better to make The Silver Chair next with the same actor. Also, personally I prefer The Silver Chair to The Magician's Nephew.

Well, I like it because I think it's a pretty damn good adventure story. Personally I don't think it's very episodic at all -- it's far more together as a story than Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Magician's Nephew as well, I think (The Silver Chair sets up its plot & objectives from the start, while The Magician's Nephew is a bit directionless in its own plot). Also, unlike The Magician's Nephew, The Silver Chair doesn't really beat you over the head with a Biblical allegory.
But there's one thing about The Silver Chair that, to me, makes it better than all the others: Puddleglum. He's my favourite Narnia character.
And we get to see Aslan's Country in TSC, if only briefly. I'd like to see that.
I think an adaption of "The Magician's Nephew" would be structured pretty straight forward actually using the same formula as the previous three films with a few slight tweaks given that this would be a "prequel" film. Another reason why I've wanted to see this is so I can see Twilda Swinton give another excellent performance as Jadis. There was really no reason to have her appear in the previous two films other than as constructs. TMN gives her a chance to shine again. They would have to find two more young actors for Diggory and Polly though I guess. I look at TMN as an action film. Particularly with the chase through downtown London sequence.

If they did make TSC next, I'm guessing they would have Tilda play The Lady of the Green Kirtle. Her two appearances in PC and VOTDT convinced me that that was the direction they were going in - probably tweaking it so that Jadis is, in fact, The Lady.

As for why The Silver Chair is my favorite of the seven....
I also find it a very good adventure story. I like how there is a Christian moral/allegory in it, but it's not as blatantly obvious as in The Magician's Nephew (of course, The Last Battle puts the rest of the series to utter shame in that department). I found it to be the most linear (as in non-episodic) of the books up to that point. Puddleglum is pretty awesome. But mostly, it has Jill. She's quite possibly my favorite of the "Earth" characters.

Jill is my brother's other favorite character besides Lucy. He got a big thrill when she was mentioned at the end of "Voyage of the Dawn Treader". "The Silver Chair" is his second favorite of the series.
