Name your gender and gender of the video game character you prefer

I'm female and I alternate between the two, I'll typically start with the male character and then go to the female just to see the differences in the story.

The question seems pertinent only to RPGs. I'm a white guy, and I mix it up between playthroughs for visual variety. There are pros and cons for both styles. As a guy, I can play the romance angle, and even score with two chicks at a time. As a chick I ignore the romance (note for future playthroughs, keep an eye out for lesbo love), but at least I have an extra hot body running around.

Kotor:
1. White guy
2. Black chick
3. Black guy

Kotor 2
1. White guy
2. Asian chick (very disappointing Handmaiden didn't come with me in this one)
3. Black guy

Jade Empire
1. Guy
2. Girl
3. Guy

Thinkin' about starting out on Mass Effect. Played around with character creation some. I'll go with the default male model for my first run, as he's the most detailed. Custom characters seem to lose a lot of complexity, and the default female is apparently one you could actually replicate with the modeling tool. No ultra-detailed option for that gender. So the default male is obviously who you were meant to chose.. Still, obviously, I was able to create a vastly more attractive character when playing around with the female generator. :)

In single player RPGs, I play both at least once.

In MMOs, when I get suckered into one anyway, I generally stick to male.

Yeah, when I played through Mass Effect as a female Shepard, my custom character turned out a lot better than BioWare's default model, too. At least I think so, anyway. :techman:

While I've played through the game as the male Shepard more often, I actually liked both iterations fairly equally this time around, when in most cases I find the male characters' storylines more appealing. It's kind of lame that they didn't create a more detailed default female to go along with the male.

I usually play as a female character, though I don't know why. I think I usually just like the particular characters better. I don't play many games, anyway.

Street Fighter:
Chun-Li

Mortal Kombat:
Princess Kitana

Goldeneye:
Natalya Simonova

Children of the Atom/Marvel vs. Capcom:
1. Psylocke
2. Cyclops
3. Magneto

In Warcraft III, I most enjoyed playing as Jaina Proudmoore, Sylvanas Windrunner, and Maiev Shadowsong (my favorite). For some reason, most male game characters (in the games I've played) aren't very interesting.

I'm female and prefer female characters.

Depending on the game, I think the gaming experience increases with female characters. Probably because I find it harder to relate to some male characters.

Male characters in adventure games are easier to relate to, though. I enjoyed playing George Stobbart from the Broken Sword adventure games, Guybrush Threepwood from the Monkey Island games as well as Lucas from Indigo Prophecy/Farenheit.

I'm a guy, and I always play as a male character. If it is a game with customizable characters like Fallout 3 or Oblivion, I try to make it look like me. If I can only choose from pre-made characters I pick whichever one is hottest, but I am gay so that ends up being a guy anyways.

I'm male and when ever I get the chance I'd use a female character, rather spend 30 odd hours looking at a female ass then male.

mind you I'm not too keen on the lets give the female charater the biggest boobs we can get on her, makes me wonder how she would even move if she/it was real

I'm a guy and I play a male character. Unless there's a cheat code to have the female characters go topless, I just don't see the point.

I'm male and I almost always go with a male character unless there isn't one available (this can happen in Hunter: The Reckoning when doing multiplayer or in some of the Resident Evil games). I like to think that's me in the game world, so I use male avatars.

I'm a guy. I play both male and female characters, probably more guys. I really don't care which gender my character is.

Generally in RPGs with multiple playthroughs (Fallout 3, KOTOR) I'll play as "good guy" (myself) first, then play as a "bad girl" the second time around. Not that the gender matters much, it just spices things up a bit.
