Periodically through the years I've tried to find out the name of an anime series that I had watched in my childhood. I've even gone through the wikipedia list of all the anime's ever, and have been unsuccessful in my detective work. So it just dawned on me that this might be a good forum to pose the question.
This is circa 1989-1992 when I first saw the show. I was visiting family in France, watching VHS of this anime, which I was pretty hooked on.
The only vivid memory I have of it, is the protagonists and antagonists seemed to be somewhat Samurai, or Ronin types. I believe there was some kind of transmogrification, where they were encapsulated by some sort of exo suit, which resembled a miniature Gundam; they were still essentially human sized, or close to it. I'm pretty sure overall it was a somewhat feudal world.
What I remember is that it featured lots of 1 on 1, 2 on 1, 2 on 2, etc. battles between the Samurai/Ronin types. It was all earth based combat(no space). But they moved like Gundams, flying through the air, utilizing sword play/hand to hand mixed with missiles/lasers/etc.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?
