They are a new company, but their Biker Mice and Expanse figures look like the real deal. I don't really have any concerns about the quality.I must say I find it to be a bit of a dubious business practice to make a second wave available, let alone talking about a third and fourth (!) wave, and not make sure people even have the first one in hand, having a chance to assess its quality. I personally wasn’t aware of Nacelle before they put out these figures; I take it they are reputable people? Some of the extra elements they plan to pack these figures with have me wonder if they’ll actually be able to produce them the way they look in these renderings. I don’t suppose any of the figures from the first wave have ever been spotted in their actual packaging with all accessories inside, correct?
That said, if the Tuvix figure I ordered from the first wave turns out to look as good as promised, I will definitely look into ordering Nog, T’Pol and “Year of Hell”-Janeway as well.
Brian Volk-Weiss has said that he owns the company and he's basically making these as a fan. As long as he's making a modest margin, he's happy. They probably have fewer overheads, and selling direct to fans means the retailers don't take a big cut. It's probably more doable than the big toy mega conglomerates like Hasbro and Playmates.
Still seems insane that Playmates were trying to sell their figures in regular retail shops.
