Myspace selling user data

Someone suggested to me earlier that deleting my profile would be useless; Myspace would still have the data. So, I deleted anything that could link back to me personally but kept the profile which, honestly, I barely check as is.

Still, spreading the word...

I didn't have as much personal info in there as I do on Facebook, but I deleted my account just the same.

I actually hadn't logged in for about two years. I never could stand MySpace... the garish design of people's pages, and the music plugins everyone used. Reminded me of those goddamn Geocities websites everyone used to have in the late 90s.

I used to have a MySpace page up until a few months ago, had it for ages. While I tried to keep the profile streamlined and easy to read, and the webpage to be clean and simple, most MySpace pages (like biggles was saying) are just garish, messy, bandwidth hogging displays of chaos, almost like Homer's home page in "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes" before he became Mr. X. Anyhoo, I didn't keep it updated very well, and it became more of a bother the longer I had it so I deleted it.

I have a facebook page and I keep it reasonably updated, but I don't join many clubs or allow many apps.

Been telling the so-called "wired generation" to stop posting personal data on Teh InterWeb and was called a technophobe. I think this is damned funny.

Best advice I've heard from someone: "No pictures, no video, don't ever write anything down -- deny, deny, deny."

I actually only use MySpace as a way to reach previously unreachble people; some film producers, directors, scoring technical staff (orchestrators, music editors, so forth), and composers who don't have official websites or other online means of contact, have a MySpace, and they are just a PM away.

I don't have much personal info on MySpace, in fact -- I recall making some of it up for this very reason.
