My views on the new movie

Like Enterprise, which I loved. (DON'T KILL ME!)
Nevermind whether you like the Abramsverse or not... admitting that is really something others will never forgive you for.

Better take their word for it, smile politely or you'll never hear the end of it. Having no new Star Trek to look forward to each week... for 4 years long years was supposed to be a good thing. Yeah right...

onstant "jizzing of pants" as I call it, over the movie. Sure, it was good, but some people are too um... enthusiastic.

That's just because we liked it a lot better than you did. Too enthusiastic for you, maybe. Just fine for us.

Well that was very civilized and totally not rude.

What, you mean the part where you referred to us enthusiasts as "jizzing our pants?" I have to disagree - that was totally rude and uncalled for.
You weren't meant to take it seriously.
Ha, I have said that before to other Trekkies, and for some reason they've never seen it as a personal insult! Methinks you should lighten up. But if I have offended you, I apologize.

I just don't understand the hate Enterprise gets. I like every incarnation of Star Trek, from the original series (wellll....) to the new movie (;)).

I think this new movie puts down all the other shows. This Abrams guy must think he's god or something to change the whole history of star trek. Come on it's hard to even watch TNG and Voyager now knowing how Abrams screwed it up. I agree with some people who said he should have made a voyager or DS9 instead. I mean these characters may have similarities to the original but theyll never measure up. He botched the whole thing. Come on I mean what happens to Picard and Janeway? Alot of what they did was influenced by the original. And what about Tuvok?! He'd be dead!

well that's what you think but I think he made Trek accessible and cool to a new audience and I hope this new Trek will continue for a very long time.

I loved the movie, and there are others out there who loved it too. So if we all are to enthusiastic, oh well. There is nothing wrong with being enthusiastic about something you really like.

You must look at him as god to think he honestly did such a thing.

It wasn't Abrams that screwed those up...

I agree with some people who said he should have made a voyager or DS9 instead.

So you already think he "screwed it up" without even doing a movie about Voyager, but agree he should have done one?

Come on I mean what happens to Picard and Janeway?

You tell us. You already have him pegged as "screwing up the history" and want us to answer that question for you?

And what about Tuvok?! He'd be dead!

Thank Abrams for small favors.

chris pine in his underwear is why this movie is awesome

Seriously though this flick gave trek a shake up that was a loooooooooooong time coming

also did i mention chris pine in his underwear ?

Well, I found out that on the morning of May 8th, 2009, all of my Star Trek DVDs were erased from existence. In it's place were trailers for the movie Up and some glowing ads about Apple.

Damn Abrams!

I like Enterprise just fine now that it's out on DVD. I don't have to suffer through the dozens of sphincter-puckering garbage episodes just to get to the watchable ones (and then only to extract the really good episodes from a small collection of those). Seriously, that's where the hate comes from. Even TOS had its cheesy moments (I develop mild diabetes every time I watch Omega Glory) but most of those were overshadowed by their blazing moments of pure awesomeness. ENT had an unworkable crap-to-awesomeness ratio; it's high moments were impressive, but it had far too many low notes in too great intensity that overshadowed them.

I mean, as good as "In a Mirror Darkly" was, you'd have to team it up with Divergence, Regeneration, the Augments and Carbon Creek just to make up for the carnage that was "These Are The Voyages."

I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship. I loved Enterprise, but Enterprise absolutely beat the shit out of me.

Wow another thread like this, makes me think of Shatner's Saturday Night Live message to the Trekkies, though I also seem to hear him asking "Why wasn't I in the movie?!", which really negates the whole "get a life" message don't you think.

but he didn't!

Prime!universe Trek was unchanged, we just have another universe in which different things will happen. It doesn't invalidate the primeuniverse stories any more than the existence of the mirror 'verse ones did.

At least to me. :vulcan:

(I have the feeling this is an old discussion, revisited, but new to me)
