My trek series idea. Bring present day earth into the 23rd century.

Here is my idea. I know the science might be off but this is "Star Trek" so who really cares? :) What if some wierd spacial anomoly impacted present day earth. This same anomoly has also impacted the moom in the 23rd century of the Abramsverse. When the anomoly has ended the planets have basically traded places(kind of like what happened in "Mirror Mirror" with the TOS characters) and we find out that this present day earth is actually our earth that exsits in a parallall universe from the trekverse's. Basically we would now have these two earth next to each other.

the show would be about how we modern day humans would react to being thrust into this new enviroment. The show would then take place 50 years in the future after the planetary switch were we can see how earth has adjusted to this new change. The show would be about modern humans who want to explore space but don't want to be part of the Federation.

Earth in the 23rd century? we already have that show its called StarGate: SG1. Earth is surrounded by high tech stuff and is also using it for ship etc.. while the general population knows nothing about it. LOL

Jayson, I think your idea would work better as a general sci-fi series instead of something necessarily "Trek" related. There have been stories about individuals displaced in time, about entire communities being abducted by aliens, but I don't recall reading one about an entire community being flung into our own future and having to deal with the repercussions. Anyone?

There is a series of books written by S.M. Sterling called the "Island In the Sea of Time" series that deals with a community (the Island of Nantucket) being sent thousands of years back in time. Kind of the same thing. It's alternate history though, a story about people moving forward would probably examine a lot of the technological and morality issues we'll have to deal with as a society in the coming years and decades.
