Re: My submission for the May art contest

look at the center more closely :)

more like uber badass part of Starfleet logo

Re: My submission for the May art contest

there appears to be a starfleet badge party per cross near the center, so i'm guessing federation-post-pwned-by-nero

Re: My submission for the May art contest

Old art is not allowed usually. You are supposed to make something specifically for the contest.

Re: My submission for the May art contest

I know thats why i asked first

I dont have time to make totally new arts anymore :(

Re: My submission for the May art contest

well if mine doesnt really count then thats ok and enjoy looking at it anyway ok? :)

Re: My submission for the May art contest

From the Fan Art FAQ:

Q: How do I enter the monthly art challenge, and what are its requirements?

A: The monthly TrekArt challenge is not an 'official' function of the forum, but is informally agreed upon and continued by the members. In general, the requirements of the monthly challenge are determined by the winner of the previous month's challenge, but the common expectations are that a) the artwork you submit is created during the month of the challenge, rather than using artwork or compositions that already exist and happen to fit the theme and rules of the challenge, and b) you are allowed only one final image to submit, although it may contain multiple views. To streamline the process and cut down on confusion and logistical problems, the moderator will post the final poll, and the entrants need to e-mail their final entries to the moderator (currently Ptrope; email: ptrope at gmail dot com) by midnight, GMT, on the last day of the month; the poll will then be posted in a timely fashion, usually on the first day of the month.
Of course Ptrope could override that but I don't think it's likely. He never has in the past that I am aware of.

You, of course, are not the first person to have a piece of artwork laying around that just happens to fit a particular challenge. But just reusing it would not be very challenging, now would it? :)

oh Well if he want to then he can lock or delete this thread then if my submission violates that rule severly :)

Re: My submission for the May art contest

The rule is there to keep things fair. You wouldn't want someone like Vektor entering his Granduer (+4 years of work) in a monthly challenge just because it fit the theme? Wouldn't quite be fair would it?

Re: My submission for the May art contest

Just change the thread title to not reference the monthly contest and you're back on course.

Can you go back to your first post and edit it? If not, PM Ptrope and ask him to change it for you.

Re: My submission for the May art contest

Good morning, all! Just back from the long weekend and here we have a question, it seems.

As the moderator, I try to enforce the board rules, and the monthly challenges are really something we do by ourselves, for ourselves, with a generally-accepted set of guidelines. We encourage everyone who participates to make his or her entry uniquely for the challenge, rather than to enter something that 'fits' the challenge laid out by the previous month's winner; it seems to keep the playing field level, and it's also a great way for people to really become involved and active. But it's not a hard and set rule - it's up to both the discretion of the challenger and the agreement of the members as to whether to allow previous works to be entered. As the moderator, I can't dictate adherence to this guideline; as a member and fellow participant, I would add my voice to those who would prefer that entries be created for the challenge. As mentioned upthread, it does make things seem more fair.

As fro editing the thread title, you should be able to edit the title in your original post, although you may have exceeded the time limit for edits; if you can't, PM me with how you would like it changed, and I'll take care of it. :bolian:

Re: My submission for the May art contest

^ As the current challenge setter, I think it would be best to stick to new and original work as laid down in the rules. Basically, I should have done my research on the challenge format and not given the go ahead for an old work to be used in the first place.

Apologies all round, folks!

:D

Re: My submission for the May art contest
