"My teeth were coated in a trifluorinate compound to prevent cavities"

Re: "My teeth were coated in a trifluorinate compound to prevent cavit

So, are you like a guinea pig or something? How do l get in on that? Been poking around for a cure for herpes...

Until this chemical learns to straighten teeth, pull teeth, fix damaged teeth, etc, I think dentist visits are going to be around for a while longer.

Plus there will be people who'll need bridge work, etc. due to losing their teeth traumatically (think auto accidents and fisticuffs).

Re: "My teeth were coated in a trifluorinate compound to prevent cavit

Teeth can also be lost do to gum disease. So yes there should still be plenty of visits to the dentist.

Indeed, what would be interesting to track is peoples brushing habits in the wake of this. Decreasing brushing time and frequency would surely increase gum disease.

Wow, I opened this thread thinking someone actually invented (or was close to inventing) some kind of a permanent teeth coating, and what does it turn out to be? A discussion about a toothpaste additive.

Yeah, this DEFINITELY belongs to ENT forum.

Doesn't it say that the effect only lasts "several hours"? How exactly would it decrease brushing frequency then?

You do know there IS such a thing as too much brushing, right? You can ruin your teeth's enamel by overdoing it.

And even if a permanent coating was to be invented, people would still brush their teeth, I think. Except for the ones who don't mind the feel of a filthy mouth cavity and food between the teeth. Frakking yuck.

I'm just thinking of your typical human behavior. The sort that goes to Burger King and gets diet Coke, or buys the extra large potato chips because they're low fat and eat the whole thing in one go. I can imagine folks buying this and brushing less often and frequently for much the same casual thinking. This stuff stops tooth decay therefore one doesn't have to brush or floss with the same frequency or care. Hence, why I thought it would be interesting to follow the use and health of users. Unintended consequences and all.

My favorite kind.

Those people who stuff their treys with 2000 calories worth of junk, then get Coke zero.
