My single-reason theory Enterprise didn't last

The theme song. It was just a horrendous, sucking the bacteria-off-of-the-bottom-of-the-LA River, insulting to our intelligence display of aural diarrhea on a piece of stale wonderbread ever to grace a show so great. :scream:

I loved Enterprise, but that theme song just kills me. I really believe the death of the show was because of this. I hope so at least.

Theme song was OK. There were many reasons why ENT was canceled, and the idea of theme song being one of them sounds a bit silly to me.

Sounds really silly to me. One of the main reasons the show was canceled was because of sub-par writing, IMO.

I was gonna say that the theme song was gay...but then Id be accused of being racist...
But it was gay...and not in the homosexual way...

If the only thing wrong with that show had been the theme song, I would have watched it for an entire seven year run and I'm sure many others would have done the same.

I think the theme song was symbolic of all of the reasons Enterprise didn't do well, which is why I wish that they had changed it for season four when ENT finally started to do well.

But I have to say, I really like the music during the closing credits--"Archer's Theme" I believe? I think that would have been a great opening song and would have helped ENT fit in a little better with Star Trek.

Oh, don't mince words. Say how you really feel about it! *grin*

Remember when Enterprise first came out, they didnt call it Star Trek Enterprise? They were trying to get new fans, distance themselves a bit from the Star Trek name. I think that is why they did an opening song that was so different from the other series. Just to give the illusion that it was a whole new show/series. I didnt like it either... but I did enjoy Enterprise becos it was.. well Trek.

Back in my misbehavin days I torrented all the season of Enterprise,as it had been cancelled before I even understood the show existed.

The reason it failed was partly because the shows creators made this whole new ship(despite it being before 'our' Trek),whole new cast, and whole new layout and whole new lame theme song, just to recycle the same old TNG episode themes all over again.

People were expecting a ground up original series, only to see the Next Generation all over again;but without an eloquent Patrick Stewart to sell the story.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I liked the song, but I do agree, give me Jerry Goldsmith theme any day :)

I believe that the reason it was canceled is because UPN goal in life was to kill Star Trek.

I liked the theme song. The writers were the culprits. The show improved over time, but it didn't have enough good eps in the first couple of years to win an audience.

Enterprise was not only my favorite Star Trek and the series that got me into the franchise in the 1st place but it's theme is also my favorite.
It describes in lyrics what they were trying to portray in the show, mankinds attempt to reach the final frontier. This is where it all began and the song gives off that vibe.

I have it on iTunes!:techman:

The theme song was fine. I was shocked the first time I heard it, but once I got used to it I really liked it, especially the version used later in the series run. To me the real tragedy about ENT is not that some people didn't like the theme, or that the writing was spotty early on; the problem was that by the time they really found their stride in terms of writing, acting, etc it was too late and they had lost too many viewers to ever recover. That was a real shame.

I understand why that song, and I think it does a good job of telling us the whole point of the series. BUT still, I hated it. It was too much un-trek, in the same way not having "Star Trek" in the title. This seems to signal right from the beginning that what came before didn't matter. And the first two season basically rejected alot of what we thought we knew about Trek (note that I said it that way---I can't reject ENT from canon just because I dislike what it did with canon).

Anyhow, so that is how I see the theme song as symbolic of why ENT wasn't very good the first two years.
