My Power Rangers Name Sake

Green Ranger

Ensign
Newbie
Might not be the right forum for this, but since it is relating to a television show, i guessed this would work.

Just wanted to show off a piece of my childhood that stands proudly defending my home from the forces of evil!

Last pic is a bit dull, but the flash dont work distances!

:)

wow that brings back memories!
Green Ranger had the coolest Zord! it had missile fingers! :D

Nice stuff. Who made this replica?

EDIT: The White Ranger was garbage. They should have found a way to keep the Green Ranger as part of the team or something. I can only imagine what his movie costume would have been like.

missile fingers lol, that would be Dragonzord ;)

The suit is a culmination of efforts. The helmet is a fan sculpt, made by a women in america. It is one of the most accurate fan made helmets I have seen, all my others are Screen Cast (exact copies) as I prefer them, obviously. I painted the helmet myself, with the help of a friend.
The suit, full spandex, similar material to the show suit, is by a tailor also in america.
The buckle is screen cast, exact replica of the one on screen. Molded and cast by a prop artist on ebay. The shield was started by someone else, but i practically made the whole thing myself in the end.
I made the arm bands, and the gloves in these pics. I have since gotten new, real leather japanese gloves, identical to the ones on screen, but have no pics of the these.
The boots are white gogo that i modified. They will also be replaced with real japanese leather ones soon.
I made the weapon prop myself, my friend made the holster.

:)

I also agree, the white ranger was not as good. But I still dont mind him. The only reason they changed was due to the lack of japanese green ranger footage, and the fact they were too cheap to film material themselves. Incase you didnt know, Power Rangers is based on the japanese Sentai series. The scenes with them in suit, is taken directly from japan. The original series is taken from 'Zyuranger'. However, green ranger footage from Zyu is limited, hence why in some scenes you may remember, green rangers shield was big and flimsey, others it was hard and solid. This was the difference between american (crap) and japanese (awesome) footage.
The introduction of white ranger, was because there was tons of japanese footage for him, from his series 'Dairanger'. They just spliced footage together when using him, and it proved cheaper.
When watchin the sentai shows, you do gain new respect for the white ranger (known as Kiba ranger in japan.).

Thats right, im a nerd :P

Questions for the Green Ranger:

1.) The Green Ranger or the White Ranger? Why?

2.) At the time, what did you think of the firing of Austin St. John, Thuy Trang, and Walter Jones?

3.) Jason or Rocky? Why?

4.) Zack or Adam? Why?

5.) Trini or Aisha? Why?

6.) Kimberly or Kat? Why?

7.) Did you miss not being able to see Jason, Zack, and Trini in the MMPR movie? What did you think of MMPR movie as well as its sequel Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie?

8.) What did you think of Jason's return as the Gold Ranger in "Power Rangers Zeo" and his appearance with Kimberly in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie?

9.) Did you want Rocky to appear in his ninja suit for "Forever Red," or were you glad he was leftout because he was not the originator of the ranger costime he wore during his 1.5 year tenure during the latter half of MMPR?

10.) Should Zack, instead of Adam came back as the Black Ranger for Power Rangers in Space and the latest 15th anniversary episode "Once a Ranger...?"

11.) Your opinons on the character of Billy Cranston, and his evolution as a character throughout the Power Rangers shows. Were you surprised that it was Tommy -- and not Billy -- who starred as the science-teacher in "Power Rangers Dino Thunder?"

12.) What do you think of the videogame "Power Rangers: Super Legends?"

1.) The Green Ranger or the White Ranger? Why?

Green, but read above :bolian:. I like Green as he had that slightly evil edge to him, even when he was green. However Jason's acting at this point was really bad. Thats the main reason I like White ranger, aswell as his red and black rangers later, he was more believable.

2.) At the time, what did you think of the firing of Austin St. John, Thuy Trang, and Walter Jones?

At the time, i was upset. In heinsight however I think its a natural progression, the three that came in ended up making the show stronger as a whole.

3.) Jason or Rocky? Why?
Jason, Rocky had few admirable qualities, and those he did have were spoilt by poor acting by steve cardenas.

4.) Zack or Adam? Why?
Initially, Zack. But adam rapidly developed into a more rounded character. Zack was like.. hip hop, and that was all. Adam is now one of the most respected rangers ever. I also like Johnny as an actor, and a guy having met him. He even returned for a special guest earlier this year in 'Power Rangers Operation Overdrive', and I respect the guy for not ignoring what the show did for him. ( I then see your last question... lol)

5.) Trini or Aisha? Why?

Aisha. I just never felt I could define Trini as a character, she had few distinguishing qualities. But then, the number of trini based episodes was so slim, thats not suprising.

6.) Kimberly or Kat? Why?
Kimberly. I didnt like Kat as Mighty Morphin Pink, she was too tall, hahaha. She was, overall a good character though, making the colour her own by Zeo.

7.) Did you miss not being able to see Jason, Zack, and Trini in the MMPR movie? What did you think of MMPR movie as well as its sequel Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie?
The movie would have been better with them at the time, as it came out only a few months after the others left. I dont think people knew the new characters well enough at the point of release. MMPR The movie is good I think, not worthy of the classification as a 'childs film' that it has. All the adults I have watched it with have said that while a little silly, it was a fun film. Turbo was very wishy washy as a season, and the film started the season.

8.) What did you think of Jason's return as the Gold Ranger in "Power Rangers Zeo" and his appearance with Kimberly in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie?
Jason and Kim in the turbo movie were very good, the films most redeming quality. However, I felt Jason was underutilised in Zeo. They should have brought him in a lot earlier, we got to see very little in terms of him reminiscing about the past, and the jason/rocky conflict was way, way to short lived.

9.) Did you want Rocky to appear in his ninja suit for "Forever Red," or were you glad he was leftout because he was not the originator of the ranger costime he wore during his 1.5 years during the latter half of MMPR?

Rocky was initially cast for forever red over Austin. It was Austin they were going to leave out, feeling Rocky was better known overall. The reason he wasnt in it, is that he moved house without telling the studio, and they could not find him when the episode was given the go ahead. Overall, having rocky in it over austin would have been a mistake I think, and having them both would have been worse. Rocky in the ninja suit would not have been good alongside all the others.

10.) Should Zack, instead of Adam come back as the Black Ranger for Power Rangers in Space and the latest 15th anniversary episode "Once a Ranger...?"

In In space, it was definatly right to use adam. After all, adam passed his powers to carlos, zack had never met him. However, I think Zack in Once a Ranger could have worked nicely, esspecially considering we had seen adam back before. But, I think Johnny's performance in once a ranger was pretty good, and I have no complaints.

11.) Your opinons on the character of Billy Cranston, and his evolution as a character throughout the Power Rangers shows. Were you surprised that it was Tommy -- and not Billy -- who starred as the science-teacher in "Power Rangers Dino Thunder?"

Billy was not at all my favourite in the beggining. I found his overly geeky acting to be difficult to believe. Later, I think he was the best in the cast in terms of acting, integrity, and actually being a good ranger. I like his dovelopment through MMPR, very much. I also felt his move to helper in zeo was ok, based on the ohranger footage available they had to loose someone. However, as much as I liked Austin's return, it should have been Billy who took the Gold Ranger powers.

12.) What do you think of the videogame "Power Rangers Legends?"

I have yet to play it, after playing the dire Lightspeed rescue game for N64, I have not given any power rangers video games much of a second look. Its never going to live up to the action of hardcore games, as the demand for a quality game does not exist.

:)

Thanks for the reply.

There's probably more questions, such as Ricardo Evans, Jr. (Cole Evans) being a male stripper now, and the Yellow Lost Galaxy Ranger appearing in Not Another Teen Movie, as well as Haim Saban (billionaire CEO and founder of Saban) who made a ton of money with the Power Rangers franchise, but paid his non-union actors so little, but I'll stop here...for now. ;)

And, just for the record: "Alpha's Magical Christmas" sucked! :p

O.M.G! Wow, serious childhood memories being brought back here. Stopped watching when it went into space. Loved it before hand, and the movie was lots of fun. Kinda sad to hear about the original yellow ranger, Thuy Trang.

Very cool! I watched the original version of the show, before all the spin-offs and character changes. That was when I was in about 2nd-3rd grade. I had little action figures and would play Power Rangers with the boys in the class...I loved the yellow ranger! I remember always liking the beginning of the episodes, but I usually wouldn't watch the big battle at the end because it was too boring.

Yeah, but that was when Rita would through her sword into the ground and yell inane things such as 'Make my monster grow!!!!'. Then Jason in his infinite wisdom would be all leader like and yell in his most manly tone 'Lets bring it together guys!', thus forming the megazord, which was the bees knees in terms of awesomness! Why would you want to miss that?

BTW, I totally need to watch The Land Before Time now thanks to your avatar. Awww...Littlefoot

I guess my personal fave would have to be Dino Thunder, with its mix of nostalgia and 'been there done that' regarding PR. I loved Adam's comment about Tommy in 'Once A Ranger...'. My fave moments :

1 - The whole arc with Tommy's slow power loss. It made his final return all the more gratifying. Like with Cap and the Avengers, the team was defined by its last original member.

2 - Although I didn't like it at the time, the 'shadowed' informing of Jason, Zack and Trini about their 'leaving for the peace conference'. It became all the more laughable years later when 'Sliders' used the same method to ditch the Mallory Bros. In retrospect, its painfully funny they would expect kids or adults to fall for that.

3 - Ransik's final redemption in the Time/Wild team-up.

4 - The fights between the heroes and villains in 'Thunder Storm'. Mind you, Kyra should have pulverized Tori, because of how water conducts sound. But their battle also included a Buffy quote, so points there. The best was Goofball Lothor versus Vicious Mesagog. 'Time to Say Goodbye, Lothor...and this time, MEAN ITTTT!!'

5 - The non-destruction capture of every single villain at the end of SPD, not to mention the only evil (non-construct) Rangers in PR history who were not under a spell or coerced into betraying the team!

One last note about Tommy : Did he and Mercer create anything together that wasn't a menace to known creation?

They ran out of Japanese footage, though. :(

 Well I've never been much into action on screen. I have vague memories of enjoying scenes where they are sitting around in some restaurant. A juice bar? That's the phrase that comes to mind.

And yes, Littlefoot is cute and awesome!

OMG! The Angel Grove Gym and Juice Bar which was run by Ernie! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

*sigh* Could this show BE any cooler? I think we all know the answer to that one....
