My PL 1/350 Enterprise!

Forbin

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
The PL 1/350 TOS E, in 2nd pilot configuration.
I'm calling this one practice, finding all the little idiosyncrasies to avoid when I do the series version with lights.
And while it looks okay in wide angle pictures, there are a TON of little blemishes, paint damage, fuzz in the dullcoat, torn decals.... OY! I've never built anything this big before that needed a smooth, clean finish!

Overall Tamiya AS-2 (IJN gray) rattlecan laquer, which goes on so smooth it's amazing. Ruined by a blotchy damn dullcoat coat. Dark patches are Medium gray, light highlights Flat Gull Gray.

The colors look spot on! Are those the recommended paints or did you come across these in your own research?

That's brilliant.

I am not a fan of heavy grid lines or weathering on the TOS-E - I like the idea that, as a futuristic ship, she is pristine and pearlescent white, and so well manufactured that you can't really see where the joints are.

Great model though. Mad skills.

Thanks!

I do agree to an extent about weathering and panel lines. But you sort of HAVE to do something to make it look more interesting.

Hmm...I always felt the design to be so timeless and still light-years ahead of our time that there wasn't really any need to make it look different. ;)

What I really would consider to be "interesting" would be a presentation of a USS Enterprise in dry-dock configuration, i.e. with all the exterior hatches extended / opened for repair and maintenance (as this is something I've never seen done before). :D

"All I ask for is for is a tall ship and a star to steer her by " brilliant work !!!! Loving the bridge on show with scale figures great detail !!!!

I don't really mind the weathering/panel lines. That there's a ship that's been out in space for twenty years, has seen a LOT of action and only gotten the most minor upgrades along the way - and that's BEFORE Kirk gets the keys to it.
