my own myraid universe what if the Enterprise lost her saucer section?

Here's my myraid universe, between Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, what if someone overloaded one of the U.S.S. Enterprise's fusion reactors and the crew evacuated the saucer section and abandoned it just as the primary hull exploded, then the Enterprise is reduced to a secondary hull. What will happen next?

It wouldn't be an Excelsior class. Perhaps more likely a Miranda.

What does "myraid" mean? Is this another new kind of Interweb game that's all the rage with America's youth, or is it just a misspelling of "myriad"? I doubt if it's the latter, because the word doesn't make much sense in this context.

"Myriad Universes" was a duology of "what if?" Star Trek novella collections published a while back. They included things like, what if the xenophobes had succeeded in the finale of Enterprise, what if the alternate where Spock died as a child and was replaced by that Andorian on the Enterprise from that animated episode continued on past TOS, what if Voyager gave up on trying to get back to Earth when they hit Borg space, and so on.

They're all a little more ripe for dramatic exploration than "What if the ship was crippled beyond repair?" though. Well, actually, that was a pretty big part of the "Voyager" story, but the actual ship being crippled was the only part.

Well, there was a lot of time between TMP and TWOK, if it were soon after, they'd probably rebuild a new saucer. If it were after the ship had become a training vessel, they'd decommission her and stick her in a museum.

Well, there was a lot of time between TMP and TWOK, if it were soon after, they'd probably rebuild a new saucer..

Or maybe they had a few extra saucer sections lying around, from ships that lost their stardrive sections.

They could then rename the ship to something like the Exeterprise or combination of the 2 ships used.
