My little ship (work in progress)

I have no skill in 3-D modeling or anything creative like that but I had this idea for a ship in my head. I always liked the ships with spherical shaped hulls, so I just started drawing it in Paint:

Any ideas would be welcome as far as the basic design. Obviously it's very rough and lacks detail but that will come later (hopefully).

I think I need to make the nacelles longer, for one thing.

Perhaps the pylons and nacelles should face downwards? Either way it's indeed a good idea to make them longer.

I like it. Reminds me of Starscape's and my Apex class design. It could actually be the 24th century version of it.

The idea with the nacelles is that they're supposed to go up and down, from a flat plane to like a 35-degree angle. Kind of like Voyager, but the other way around (flat when the engines are engaged, raised up when traveling on impulse).

Now, I have absolutely no idea what purpose that would serve, I just think it's cool.

A good way to make MS Paint work for you visually is to create a custom color palette of grays, blues, and reds (Federation Ship colors) using the custom colors section, essentially all you do is start it out with say a light red then just keep decreasing its light value until you have a decent spectrum. When you start filling in your ship your mind automatically takes over and tells you where each shade goes.

Design wise I really like your idea, I also liked the spherical concept but was never a fan of the neck connecting it to the star drive section.

A little more work:

I envision this as a "Hospital" ship, sort of like Beverly's future ship in "All Good Things..." The front sphere section can hold many "patients."

Maybe this type of ship can be deployed in (sadly) war zones, between distant colonies, etc. Staffed with many medical personnel & supplies as well as shuttle craft.

I see many possibilities for this ship! Would be great to see a 3d rendering.
