My idea thread, the Sovereign Continuum

This is the thread where I keep my own Ideas for my own star trek based universe. the whole thing is non cannon, and I'm making this up as I go. the universe is a very different place in this thread.

Ship Design:

Ships that are prototypes are labeled NX followed by the prototype number(Prototype numbers are always at least 2 numbers), followed by 2 zeros (This indicates that they are not normal service vessels). The first prototype design would be NX-0100

Ships built off of prototype designs are designated with NCC, followed by the prototype number, followed by a designation number, starting with 01, onwards. for example, the fifth ship built under the first design would be NCC-0105

The class of the vessel is named after the prototype's ship name.

An NX prototype must be capable of breaking the light speed barrier.
An NCC ship must be based on an NX design

Sublight prototypes are labeled XS
Sublight production vessels are labled SCC
All other rules of registry remain the same.

Before the 24th century, Starfleet's design philosophy was to design a new ship every 10 years, and have a refit scheduled for older designs every 5 years. In this way, older designs were produced to refit specifications long after the NX Prototypes went into production. New ships were designed to fill holes in the fleet, as it grew.
Listing of early NX Ships:

22nd century
NX-0100 USS Mayflower early exploration vessel

NX-0200 USS Daedalus early exploration vessel

NX-0300 USS Icharus early exploration and survey vessel

NX-0400 USS Apollo early warship
NX-0500 USS Salvation early medical ship
NX-0600 USS Jackrabbit high speed warship
NX-0700 USS Arizona warship designed to combat the klingons in the war
NX-0800 USS Bizmark warship designed to combat the klingons in the war
NX-0900 USS Yamato warship designed to combat the klingons in the war
NX-1000 USS Nina first exploration ship built since the Armistance with the klingons.

I'm going to try to build all of these designs.

Warp Speed:

Warp speed, in my universe, is calculated as V = C * W3

That's the same as the original series

The Federation should be capable of doubling it's maximum speed every 100 years. As the NX-0100 had a maximum warp factor of 5, then the NX-1100 has a maximum warp factor of 10. NX 2100 max of 20. You should get the point.

Remember, I'm not saying any of this is true or canon, just the way I would want it to be in my universe.

I have to admit, I don't understand these "idea threads."

Why don't you store your ideas on your hard drive? I'm perfectly willing to read your story, but a collection of ideas, background and technical specs? Why? Are you looking for comments? Constructive criticism? Are you actually going to write a story based in this universe? Or just make ships? If the latter, maybe this would be better posted in Trek Art?

I'm not trying to be unwelcoming here. I guess I'm just missing the point. The ships look really cool, though. ;)

I don't just keep it on my hard drive because I don't trust my computer. I do plan to make a series of short stories set in this world, but I want to make all of the ships first. Why? Because I like knowing what my limitations are tech wise. :)

I don't want to start off good with my stories, and have 50 holes in the plot like trek does. I don't want to make up Ships and Technology on the fly. I want the universe to be already there, and for my story to sit snuggly in it :)
