I have high hopes for Strange New Worlds. It looks like it's going to be very old school and I like that. But, It's not just the aesthetic that I want to be like older Trek, but I want the show to slow the hell down and present more thoughtful storytelling than the last few series have. I like those too but We don't need Marvel-style joke-a-minute dialogue or frantic pacing. I didn't realize until recently how much I miss professional adults who act like professionals.

Discovery slowed down in season 4. They slowed down WAY too much. It's the TMP of Star Trek seasons.
I could do with less quips, and more thoughtful dialogue. But most of all, give me good stories.

My real hope after these character teasers in the show is to remember the crew and see their character development grow. Its amazing how instantly I actually feel connected to the rest of the senior crew in the show already, and its not even going to air for another month. Unlike DSC where I STILL can't remember most of the senior crew's name or seen much character growth, this show seems to be doing that already. Already I can remember the legacy characters, but also Hemmer, La'an, Ortegas...I REMEMBER them and their names! I am cautiously optimistic in seeing the crew grow.
These two words are the words I’ve repeated most during CBS Trek, and most times I’ve been burned.
