My "Early Days Enterprise" Would Look Like Battlestar:Galactica

Dayton3

Admiral
I don't know if this should go here since I don't have an actual drawing or not.

But if I was going to design an Enterprise from say 100 years before the Original Series, it would look generally like the Battlestar Galactica.

Preferably the one from the original series.

Of course, I would replace the flight pods with early warp nacelles.

The large engine section on the rear would remain the sublight engines.

I always envisioned early starships as having very large sublight engines.

I would probably put the large hangar bay on the underside of the forward, wedge shaped section.

Just some thoughts.

I've seen other, better-done Trek-ified battlestars... I'll see if a Google search will turn them up.

Would it be ribbed for Archer's pleasure? Or Hoshi's??

(Sorry, couldn't resist the nuBSG reference...)

Cheers,

I kind of like the USS Galactica, but for the time frame being discussed I think the hull is a little too smooth.

Took a while to get anything with this concept done.

My take on it.

I always thought the USS Patton from the Spaceflight Chronology book had a vaguely Galactica feel to it and was a good design for an early warp flight ship.
