"$#*! My Dad Says"

I can't really say that the whole episode tonight was funny. The only funny parts were with Shatner, Jean Smart and Lee Majors. The part with Henry dropping his cell phone and other things down the dispose-all was lame. The scenes with the ex-boss donating her eggs and the dog eating them wasn't funny either. They should just retool the show and leave the idiot sons out.

I thought the opening with Shatner telling his DIL about his sex life with Jean Smart was kind of funny. But again, that was a scene with Shatner.

I think it's Shatner's misfortune they couldn't find a better concept and supporting cast to work with him. As I said a couple of weeks ago, he still brings the funny, but he's about it on the show.

It's like the other son and his wife are from another sitcom that airs as the same time as Shatner's.
Yes, I think those that like the show share this setiment largely. For every funny scene those two have they are unfunny in another 5.

The actor playing Henry works well with Shatner or has begun to at least. I feel much more chemistry with them now vs the first handful of episodes.

Shatner has a good character and it's just a shame that half the main cast isn't as good a fit.

Anyone notice how the show "evolved" a bit? In the beginning the son had far more screentime.. now it's the Shatner show. Whatever else happens it still is hit or miss.. mostly miss though. There are instances of very funny moments but most of it falls flat and is pretty much generic sitcom routine.

What are the numbers for it and is it renewed yet? I certainly could live without it.

I watched this episode while I was waiting for CSI to come on. I cringed through the whole thing until the fight at the end. That was some funny stuff.

Well if it makes you feel any better, the conventional wisdom here is that it's not staying on the air.

Hm.. an average of 10 million viewers and still great risk of getting cancelled.

I've never been able to figure out the business side of US television.

For me it's a toss up.. i wouldn't miss the show but occasionally they do have some good scenes.

It all depends on which channel it's being aired. The same ratings would be unheard of on Syfy.

If you look at the last ratings the show gets 3 million viewers less than the show before and after it on the same channel.

Its down to the demographic numbers really and the show struggles tends to lose 40-45% of TBBT "18-49" audience. Simple fact CBS knows they can do better but I still say ABC would be a great move for it alongside The Middle.

Wait, so is the show cancelled or what??

To my knowledge it has not been officially axed. However as Jax and others have pointed out, it's ratings in their opinion are not sufficient for it be renewed. Also it did not get a full season pickup for this season, so that's another sign it will be cancelled.

For another opinion however, ex TV Guide writer Greg Aussiello (sp?) commented that it was a "safe bet" to be renewed.

So the jury is still out, but at this point it doesn't look good.

Michael Ausiello of TVLine? He used to be with EW. Great site when it comes to info. He really is in the know.

CBS always cancel their lowest rated sitcom and that is $#*! My Dad Says. However the reason there might be hope is someone picking it up though don't hold your breathe.

All likelyhood while ABC should pick it up, they probably won't.

I know it's only aired one episode but that could be Mad Love as the lowest rated sitcom in the end.
