"$#*! My Dad Says"

The new 20-second promo for this Thursday's $#*! My Dad Says is now up in case you haven't seen it today.

In this promo Ed & Henry get out of the house to grab a bite to eat. Their waiter turns out to be someone Ed recalls.

It's a cute, chuckle-worthy show. It isn't groundbreaking or laugh-out-loud hilarious, but most things aren't.

I'll keep watching.

The DVR delayed viewing rankings were mentioned in years past. Those usually were a week-to-10 days behind so does anyone(Jax) know what those may be for $#*! yet?

Checking to see how much wiggle room the show can muster should it need it. It's not a lock yet for season pick up that much is certain.

All new episode, #3, tonight in just over an hour at 7:30/8:30 central on CBS following The Big Bang Theory.

Looking forward to seeing how tonights show plays out. There seemed much more chemistry between Ed(Shat) and Henry last week. Looking forward to seeing if that continues as well as our former DMV employee returning so soon. Early attempt to build a semi-regular if the show gets picked up perhaps?

Hoping to stay above 10 million viewers but 9.8 is probably more realistic.

Agreed. This one is an order of magnitude better than the pilot. The jokes were considerably funnier, there was good pacing and delivery and they seem to know how to interweave touching moments into the plot to extract some nobility out of Ed's otherwise gruff character.

I must be in the minority w/ regard to the older brother. I thought he was extremely funny in both eps. "spaghetti and meatbaaaaahhhh". :lol: I'm sorry, for some odd reason I thought that was profoundly hysterical.

And the restaurant scene this week was fantastic!

"HALLAH!" :guffaw:

I don't mind the older brother--he has his moments. His wife, OTOH, is painful to watch flailing around trying to be funny.

Last night's episode was indeed a winner. Is DMV guy going to become a regular? I sure hope so because his interactions with Ed were definitely highlights.

My wife says that Shatner's character is me when I get older. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. So far I am enjoying this show. As others have posted, its not great, but I do enjoy Shatner's line delivery. The son living with him, not so much. He just seems very stiff (please no "Hollah" jokes :)). The older brother is funny, and again his wife, not so much. To me it seems like they spent all of their budget hiring Shatner, and had nothing left to spend on other good actors. That said I will continue to watch because it is pretty good. I do think they need another guest character every now and than. Ed's caring and in touch with his own feelings neighbor Stu, played by Leonard Nimoy.

Zap2It.com has the rankings and $#*! My Dad Says lost a few more viewers but not nearly as bad as from pilot to ep.2 which was 20%. I even pegged it right!

Pilot= 12.5
2nd = 10.4
3rd = 9.8

$#*! My Dad Says (9.8 million, 6.0/10)

Now I don't claim to be a math wiz, I hate decimals&fractions, but that seems at or less than a 10% drop. Indicating to me some stabilization may be starting. Jax are those still good demo #'s for the show?
Assuming those that didn't watch hear how good this ep was maybe they'll Hulu it or watch the ep at the cbs.com website then tune in next week.

I really think this episode marked a more solid performance and has laid out at least one out of the house locations(Hotcake Corral) to shoot at(ala the Diner on Seinfeld).

The wife played an astonishingly annoying character on Scrubs a few times, and a similar character on King of Queens. I do hope they'll elevate her out of that kind of place, as from her time on MadTV she CAN deliver...

As with many shows it's up to the writers to come up with funny stuff that the actor can even turn funnier with his/her delivery.

A bad joke won't suddenly become good if a renowned comedian tells it (at least not if they don't spin it around a bit). She also doesn't have the clout of Shatner who i'm sure can go up to the writers and the director and "talk" to them about some changes. ;)

The new 20 sec promo is up for episode 4 of $#*! My Dad Says.

It's yet again an episode that gets us out of the house. Glad to see them doing that early, broaden the settings. Ed does karakoe, 'nuff said!!!

$#*! My Dad Says (9.8 million, 6.0/10)

Jax are those still good demo #'s for the show?

Your 6.0/10 is the household share not the demo. The demo or the 18-49 demo (which is very important) was under 3.0, which was not a good thing. It will get a full season am sure though I still think its better served on Monday nights and should swap with HIMYM, which has a very similar core audience in terms of age to TBBT.

So after watching Big Bang Theory tonight do you think they could ever get Takei on Shat My Dad Says? That'd be awesome.

TBBT was back on track tonight and My Dad says continues its improvement. Hopefully the ratings will go back above 10 million and a demo in the 3 range.

Zap2It.com has numbers for Thursday.

$#*! My Dad Says saw its first viewership increase from episode to episode. After losing viewers from the pilot thru episode 3 last night saw an approximate increase of 10% to land 10.1 million viewers last night!!!
$#*! My Dad Says (10.1 million, 6.1/10)

Hopefully the demo score went up as well. As the show lost viewers it lost demo so I hope the corollary works both ways. The demo leader for the hour was TBBT with a 4.1 score. $#*!'s last demo for ep 3 was 2.5, could it get to a 3 demo score Jax? Waiting your thread to hear hopefully more good news on this show.

While demos are no doubt important a new show that through 4 episodes has an average of 10.7 million viewers surely is seen in a positive light. That's a lot of eyeballs.
*EDIT* - last night saw a demo bump as well from 2.5 prior episode to 3.1 for last night!!! All around good news.

Pilot - 12.5
2nd - 10.4
3rd - 9.8
4th - 10.1
