I haven't seen enough movies yet. I usually wait for the Oscar nominees and then go to the movies like a fiend to make up my own mind.
I would think Interstellar would sweep any and all technical awards from The Hobbit.
I saw the last HOBBIT film at a Regal Cinema, and I saw all three in 3D. But this last one cinematography-wise is incredibly vivid, High-Definition-realistic and astronomically superior. I've seen close to 1300 theater flicks, and this was quite literally the most beautiful-looking of them all. (JAWS was my previous all-time winner in this respect.) It's like watching a live stage play and the ultimate videogame simultaneously. It had me at ''Oh, my God'' within the first 30 seconds. Not all theaters are necessarily using the same system setup, but at the Regal it made even AVATAR and IMAX look like SOUTH PARK.
On the other hand, I didn't go the IMAX route for INTERSTELLAR, so maybe that's a key factor who wins the category this year.
