My cat has to go to the vet today

My cat has cancer and had quite a few vet visits a few weeks ago and she was scared at first but didn't mind much.
I'm sorry to hear that. :( Is she responding well to treatment?

Basically, there is no treatment.

She has squamous cell carcinoma, which is a feline oral cancer, and is a big killer in cats but has no cure. Hers is basically a scratch right under her tongue (right where the tongue meets the bottom of the mouth) and the only way to remove it would be to remove her tongue, which obviously can't be done. She's on some meds to help the pain but she's dirty from drooling (which has slowed down a lot, thankfully) and I have to bathe her a lot. Her blood work came back perfect and she is otherwise healthy. She just has to eat soft food.

The vet gives cats with scc 6 weeks - 6 months to live but I hope to beat that time and she's doing well. She hasn't lost much weight and she's had it since March.

My vet bill was just under $1000.

:(

I'm sorry to hear that... I hope your kitty isn't in too much pain and will live for a good while longer!

The first few times I had to take Lucifer to the vet he was very happy to jump into his carrier, he was very curious about it and just walked in when I presented it to him.

Nowadays, he's a bit more difficult. He doesn't make a big scene or becomes violent, he just refuses to get in.
But he hates leashes. I used to try a leash on him - in fact, I did manage to take him on a 20 metre walk once before he forcefully dragged me back home! - but he does become aggressive with leashes and leashers, so the carrier is the only option...

we have a carrier bag instead of the huge cage things so it's more comfortable for the cats
our kittens had their first vet visit on Monday but I was at work so I don't know how they behaved

Wrap the cat in the biggest blanket you have and throw him into the carrier.

My cat is 18 and she has never given up the fight to get into the carrier.

My cat has a tumor on her kidney or liver, she has had it for at least 18 months I think, so it doesn't seem cancerous. Well I doubt it's cancer because I figured she would be dead then.

^^ Good, I hope it never causes her any problems.

Ouch. I hope she doesn't suffer and is able to enjoy the life she has left. She's lucky to have a good Human to take care of her.

I feel your pain. I spent a fortune on my cat when he got hit by a car, first to save him and then to try to save his eye; unfortunately, the eye could not be saved.

When I brought 2 cats back from the UK..had to put them in separate carriers (They had never been apart since birth)..the British vets gave us some "long duration" tranquilizers to be given 1 hour prior to flight..as it happened, we got the seat above the live cargo loading hatch..we watched as our carriers..(I know as my 1st wife had me spray paint them bright green for easy ID) were loaded...saw one cat, Tabby by name, pressed with her back against the cage snoozing away..saw only the horrified wide eyes of the other cat ,Carbon, as she was loaded into the airplane with the APU exaust screaming all about her...later we found her pill in the bottom of the carrier after the flight..she never was quite the same again...

Great. Now I'm even more stressed about moving my cats back to Canada in July. :(

just make damn sure they take those pills...and you'll have no issues.
