My Beard Dilemma

RoJoHen

(what's that? is it a RoJoHen facial hair thread?)

Every year, as summertime approaches, I tend to trim down my facial hair. The weather this past week has been great, and I am tempted to do so again. The only problem is...

...my new job LOVES my beard! I've only been working for this company for 2 months, and my beard is already famous at all 4 locations across Illinois and Mississippi. I feel like it would be somehow sacrilegious to get rid of it.

I am conflicted.

Trim it. That way they'll never know what you'll do next!

Of course I say that as a man that hasn't removed his beard for 25 years...

It's also weird because these people have never known me without the beard, even though this full beard I'm currently sporting has really only existed for the last 5 or 6 months.

Along those lines, I need a better set of beard trimmers. I own a Wahl beard trimming set, and sweet Jesus it grabs and pinches and pulls no matter what comb I use. I'm damn near afraid to approach it now. The trimmer I used to own doesn't get manufactured anymore, but it never cut or pulled, and it was a "cheaper" beard trimmer.

I have a Remington Precision beard trimmer, and I love it. I've had it for years.

A full beard/moustache set in these metrosexual times is only outward signifier that truly delineates masculine from feminine (in most circles, but not all).

But go with flow :)

I'm never going to completely shave my face ever again. That much is certain. I'm just not sure if I should, I dunno, lighten up the beard for summer. Last summer I went with a goatee. Sometimes I rock the think chinstrap beard (still with mustache, of course).

That's what I had, was a Remington DT-1000 Precision Beard Trimmer. They don't make them anymore, so I bought another beard trimmer hoping it would be as good. I heard good things about Wahl, so bought one. Don't. Don't don't don't, if you value your face at all.

I think you need to post a photo of what it looks like now. If it looks good, keep it. If it makes you look like a street person, trim it. :D

The other weekend I trimmed the mustache and chin so I could have mutton chops, but it all grew back by Monday for work.

Good news! :D

Thinking of my next trim and shuddering at the prospect, I went and grabbed the old trimmer from under the bathroom counter (I kept it so I could try and find another one like it someday), broke it down, pulled out my computer microtool set and somehow managed to fix it! I'm not entirely certain how I fixed it, but I did!

Tada! :D

Yes, I am easily amused.

I say let it grow! You could braid it, shape it like a topiary, let birds nest in it, all sorts of interesting possibilities.

My beard, as of Friday. If I appear flushed, don't worry. It's just because I was totally wasted on Long Island Iced Teas and Jagerbombs. :p
