MW3

You know, I know this is something that is not new to MW3, but it's happened to me enough the last couple of days that I have to vent a little. How ridiculous is it that somebody can run through a hail of bullets from across the room and stab you? When you're aiming your gun and somebody hits you with a bullet, it affects your aim. But apparently when you're running with a knife, you're invulnerable.

Type-95 + Rapid Fire = problem solved.

I love it when people try that strategy of running at me with a knife and I just cut them in half with one pull of the trigger.

Akimbo FMGs = even better

Don't even have to aim them, they're dead before they even pull the knife.

Sadly, being nerfed this week, so over to akimbo Skorpions instead.

Well the thing that was irritating me was that I was hitting the guy, getting the little "x" and hearing the "thud" sound indicating a hit, and he just kept on coming. I'm just saying that's not right, if one's gun aim is affected by being hit, then there should be some effect on the knifing animation.

I know this is a game, it's not realistic by any stretch of the imagination, but this is just too over the top IMHO, and one serious flaw in the game. Well that and fact that people loaded down with equipment can hop around like a kangaroo.

ETA: I guess I should expand on that a little. There are a lot of things in the game that annoy me, snipers and randomly tossed grenades to name two, but in the case of those things, those are things that you might really encounter in real life, well maybe not the grenade thing so much, but the sniper for sure.

But a guy with a full gear running and hoping all over the map? Or a guy being lit up with bullets is some how going to wade through that and kill someone with one swing of the knife? Yeah right.

I'm not going to argue with you, I usually yield a fair few expletives when that happens to me as well.

Grenades - I never find that too bad now, not after CoD4's 3xFrags on Wet Work anyway!

Sniping - Is fine, providing you're not quickscoping, because if you are, then you're a talentless c*nt. :)

Oh yeah the grendades were WAY worse in previous versions. Still I see a fair number of grenades just heaved across the map that land randomly in your vincinity. That's damned annoying.

I think I've got sleight of hand in that perk spot. Like those fast reloads. But the random grenades have been frequent enough in the last few days for me to reconsider.

Now if they just had a "Knife Shield" perk.

I'd guess most of those are because of people using the perk that lets them see your location on the map if they wound you. I can't remember what it's called. :ouch:

Well that's entirely possible, but I can't tell you the number of games I've been in where the round just started and almost immediately grenades are going off. Haven't been killed THAT way yet, but you know people are just heaving grenades across the map. That's just a stupid feature of the game, IMHO.

But I don't see any way of fixing that without eliminating grenades all together (which frankly wouldn't hurt my feelings.). But they COULD fix the "bunny hoping" issue pretty easily (just disable the effing jump button already) and they need to do something about the "running through a hail of bullets to knife you" thing.

Was reading about the lag compensation issue a little. It's like you can't win. You have a bad connection and you get throttled with lag issues, but now if you have a good connection they're going to penalize your for that.

Recon is the perk.

They could nerf the grenades for the first x seconds in games. They did that with the noob tubes in BlOps to stop people spawn-killing at the start of games.

BTW,

I wanted to say thanks to whoever suggested I go the "care package" route (I'm too lazy to go back and look it up in the thread). That really has made more of the game available to me, I've combined it with the hardline perk and I have gotten a decent reward several times.

The only downside is in the time it takes for them to deliver the care package. I've gotten killed twice now waiting on/securing packages. The first one was recovered by my team so that wasn't so bad, but the second time the other team go it. And it was a Reaper. Man I was PO'd about losing that. :klingon:

you want a UAV and then care pack. use UAV to make sure you're in a clear area before you call the pack. it's what i do and 98% of the time, it works.

usually it doesn't cuz of some fuckwit rusher with marathon/cold-blood combo and akimbo machine pistols or SMGs.

Well would you believe I JUST figured out yesterday how to use my mutiple killstreak reward slots? I didn't even know it was there. Sometimes I'm such a dummy. On the other hand, it's not like they give you an abundance of info in the manual.

I have found my new favorite toys: Assassin Pro and Stalker Pro. Those perks are so over-powered that it's not even funny. With Stalker Pro, unless you do something really stupid or a teammate triggers them, you should never die from a claymore, IMS, or bouncing betty ever again. Running past and triggering those things has almost become a game for me.

With Assassin Pro preventing the enemy crosshairs from turning red on me and preventing my name from appearing over my head, I am shocked at how much of a difference it has made. In one level, I was standing in the middle of a choke point and I had 3 consecutive enemies not only run directly at me, but bump into me and run past without firing a single shot. In a different game, I was spawned right in the middle of a group of enemies, and again they didn't do anything until I started taking shots at them.

Those two perks combined with the Blind Eye perk and a silenced assault rifle, and I'm rocking! Last night I was almost averaging 2.0 K/D. Normally, if I have a single 2.0 game in a month, I pretty happy!

^^ Assassin Pro is pretty much the same as Cold-blooded Pro in MW2 - you didn't show up in the crosshairs there either. 'Tis a great perk.

What I found makes a big difference is turning the brightness all of the way up - Never have instances of missing people now. With a darker screen I can well imagine how easy it is to miss people on certain maps, but with the brightness at the high end of the range, it rarely happens now.

^I don't think it was an issue of people missing me though.... the map where I spawned into a group of enemies and they didn't open fire was in Village and I appeared right in the sunny open and I actually had a couple guys looking at me when I arrived.

I had a pretty mundane session today, it seems that a lot of players have begun using the silent running perk, the perk that allows you to aim faster and the UMP with duel wield or rapid fire. It's annoyingly effective and I'm beginning to think that this is MW3's equivalent gamebreaker of MW2's noobtube > danger close and UMP silencer > ninja. I'm pretty sure that my aim is off too, although it quickly came back which makes me wonder if some players were using lag hacks - it's really annoying when you shoot someone 4 times in the head and it doesn't do anything to them!

It's getting increasingly harder to camp as a sniper because a lot of players have worked out the best sniping spots on most of the maps and will hang around them just in case I, or anyone else decides to snipe. I consider this a challenge to be more creative! After all, I practically pioneered Village's "grass prone with a claymore behind you" tactic, although it's not as effective most of the time because very few of the opposing players actually come in your direction. Still, it's a good place to be if you want to move around the river areas of the map and have somewhere to go to regroup following kills.

I wish they'd patch out the effectiveness of the stealth bomber, it really is the most annoying killstreak in the game. The support killstreak package was designed to essentially give newer players a chance - but the really good players abuse it to the extreme. I'm talking about spawn killing, because if you're playing domination all a player has to do is activate the stealth bomber over one of the opposing teams capture points. Most of the time, the team will spawn close to the capture points and it's an easy way to boost kills. The stealth bomber cannot be destroyed or damaged by SAM turrets and I think that's something they need to add.

My favourite thing to do at the moment is jump into the prone position. It's like doing something out of an action movie where you jump to get a view ahead to see if there are any enemies and at the same time you are in an ideal position to snipe!

I want that EMP screen effect taken out of the game, the one that happens when you or your team EMPs the enemy. It's way too distracting and can cause a problem if you are trying to aim at an approaching enemy. I think the required kills need to be increased on that killstreak too, it's used so many times in any given ground war game!

The stealth bomber cannot be destroyed or damaged by SAM turrets and I think that's something they need to add.

I completely disagree with this. Not because I use the Stealth Bomber at all, but the Chopper-based killstreaks have already been rendered utterly useless by the fact that they can be shot down so easily. Not that they should be massively overpowered or anything, but the fact that a Pavelow can be shot down within seconds of being called in before it can even fire a shot is ridiculous. Complete waste of a killstreak. If they start giving people the ability to shoot down bombers and such, soon there'd be no point even bothering with any of the aerial killstreaks.

Well.. every good sniper knows to either avoid really obvious sniper spots or changes position after a shot or two.. but this being a game you can count on the stupidity of gamers and their vengefulness :p

Two things that are really beginning to annoy me are campers and spawn death. Camping takes no skill whatsoever.. hole up in a corner and just wait. Unless you have terrible aim it should be an easy kill.
Maybe there could be an option to instantly mark someone on the map if they're more than 5 seconds on the same spot (maybe a tiny area to avoid them just shuffling around a bit to circumvent that) unless they have a sniper weapon in hand.

I'd really wish for a 2-3 seconds invulnerability or something like that when you spawn.. just to get out of the spot and into the map again. I've had multiple instances where players evidently just sat around a spawn point with aimed weapons and just pick returning players off.

Other than that it's still a fun game.
