MW3

Digital Spy

According to this, the DLC is being split thus;

2 bits to drop in Jan
1 bit in Feb
2 bits in March

The above are dates for 360 elite premium members. PS3 elite premium members will be a month later than the dates quoted. Regular 360 users will get a 'pack' in March, and regular PS3 users will get a 'pack' in April.

Liberation and Piazza are the first two maps out of the gate. I was hoping for the Central Park map personally.

Edit: Doh moment! The central park map is Liberation, so we do get that straight away afterall!

^I'm so annoyed they never figured out how to get Elite working on PC. All I wanted to do was throw my money at them, and they make it impossible.

Elite, the app, is kind of useless... It refuses to link to my YouTube account, it only allows one minute YouTube clips anyway, so what's the point... unless you're some idiot who just wants to show your 5 second 360 degree quickscope, how is this useful?

The vault is really bad too just because you have to exit out of the lobby you're in to save the replay. If a lobby is giving me games that I think are worth saving, then obviously I'm going to want to milk it for all it's worth!

Weapon stats could be much better. Maybe a chart you could get by clicking on each weapon to see if you are improving over time... or maybe another KDR stat based on your opponent's weapon. Some tool to cross-reference the two, when I have an M16 vs a Type 95, just how badly am I personally getting owned? Ya know. Database stuff!

Or heck, back to the vault for a second. I have gigabytes of space on my hard drive... why doesn't MW3 save certain stuff automatically? For instance, when I flip through my emblems there's one for getting 5 kills with a single Predator. I don't remember doing that at all! That should have been autosaved, and I should be able to just click on the emblem in my barracks screen to load up a short video of how I got that emblem. There could be a whole screen of automatic videos... best 5 kill streaks... best 'carnage' (say your highest number of kills to occur within 30 seconds), best rounds by game type, etc..

It just seems there's not much going on in the Elite app side of things considering they pulled a whole studio to work on it.

The stats would be interesting to see, but the most appealing part of Elite was going to be the DLC's. Not only are the Elite folks getting things that no one else would, but even if they were to just do the 4 planned map packs over the next year, paying $50 for Elite and getting the packs for free would still be cheaper than paying the usual $15 per pack.

Yeah, that's why I threw the extra 40 bucks into the Hardened edition, I was going to buy the DLC anyway... are they really doing exclusive content though? It seems like Elite gets it first, then it gets bundled into packs that come out at a later date for COD Normies. I don't really like the way they do that because of the way it'll split the player base... The old PC model of buy the game and get free map packs was really the way to do things. It's not about being unwilling to spend the money, it's about the health of the online communities.

They are doing exclusive content for Elite members. My coworker has elite for the X-Box and he's been keeping up with this stuff. He said that Elite member should expect either 19 or 29 DLCs in the first year (I'll ask him for the definite number next time I see him). Most of the exclusive things are minor stuff like weapon skins and things of that sort.

It'll be the occasional stuff, like what we've already had - the odd weapon camo here, the odd prestige token there.

It's 3 map packs this year - one in March, one in June, and one in September.

Elite - the DLC alone makes it worthwhile if you were going to be getting it anyway. The additional stuff - well a lot you get with the free app anyway, and that which you don't isn't much to write home about anyway. Hence, if it weren't for the DLC, premium Elite certainly wouldn't be worth it.

Personally, it will depend on the maps - if they're good, then I'll be happy enough, but if I don't like them then Elite probably won't have been worth shelling out for and I'll seriously consider not renewing at the end of the year.

Ya know, they gave me that damned extra Prestige Token a couple of weeks back... and I just don't know what to do with it. I'm on Prestige 9 and everything has already been budgeted. I got all the classes, my next token goes to the thing that unlocks more emblems and stuff... that leaves "Reset All Stats" (NO FUCKING WAY!), and double XP or double weapon XP. I don't need double XP... the weapon XP might be useful on my last prestige to get a jump on leveling up one of the weapons I hate... but I mean... it's only two hours... it's not going to accomplish that much for me I don't think. If they give me more freebie tokens I'll probably do that... but as of now I think I'll just keep it as a souvenir.

I plan on keeping one token, just in case I ever fancied resetting the stats. The notion seems abhorrent to me now, but in the future, who knows?!

Once you've prestiged 10th, you're just left with double xp, double weapon xp, custom class, unlock equipment and the reset all stats - if you've unlocked the callsign packs.

When I get to 10th, I'd only consider resetting all stats if it's going to be extremely difficult to improve my stats to a level befitting of someone who has played legit throughout. I pride myself on playing properly and not taking advantage of exploits or overusing weapons that need nerfing (Striker). Unfortunately, this mantra results in inconsistency as matches go. It's usually impossible to beat someone who has played time with the Striker in medium to close range - therefore I have to resort to sniping.

I like to balance my gameplay with all types of combat - close, medium and long range. But the only way of ensuring a fair to good game is to play long range and be extremely careful, not because the other players are skilled, but because many of them take advantage of the games unbalanced weapons and exploits.

^You missed "Veteran Package," which isn't available for purchase unless you're Prestige 10.

I think that was a good idea on their part. I don't think 2 hours of XP makes much of a difference at that point You're over 90 percent of the way there, and anyone with a lick of sense would've used their early prestige tokens on equipment unlocks. Why unlock that MP7 at Prestige 10 instead of Prestige 1 or 2?

I've not bothered with any of the double xp. I'm nearly 4th prestige and so far I've unlocked the regular package, the assassin perk and the blind eye perk.

While I agree that the double XP would be best for the end, I can see some perks for using it towards the beginning. Tose early ranks are so short and easy to blow through that the double XP can help get you to the longer, more tedious ranks faster. With that said, the only reason I prestige is because I'm allowed to unlock stuff. I was in position to prestige the previous game, but the gun I liked was pretty late in the game and I didn't want to be stuck without it again. This go through, I'm really liking the ACR, and I was most pleased to get it back within 4 levels (of course, those first 4 levels were hell for me). I'll probably be able to prestige again later this month and I'm trying to decide if I want the Stinger or the M14.

By the time I prestiged for the first time, I had 5 tokens.

1 -Regular Package
2 - Assassin perk
3 - FAD
4 - Claymore
5 - M60E4

Since then I've unlocked the hardened package, the MP7, the RPG, bouncing betties, smoke grenades, and then 2/3 additional custom class slots.

Wasn't remotely tempted to get any of the double XPs, they just seemed such a waste, I'd rather just put in a couple of extra hours.

To be honest, the unlocks have been a nice idea, but the only ones that I really would have missed had I not been able to unlock them would be claymores, and potentially the smoke grenade.

The assassin perk doesn't take too long to get, and my preferred weapons are mainly early unlocks, or starters anyway - The M4A1 is my preferred assault rifle, the L118A is my preferred sniper rifle. I have come to love the RPG though, so perhaps I'd miss that as well, seeing as you don't get it until rank #80!

Getting to Custom Class at level 4 is two matches at most for me, 6 or 7 minutes of in-game FFA time. I spent my first couple of Prestige tokens on the MP7, because it's pretty late and it's awesome... Dead Silence... because it's fairly late and useful in FFA for early leveling and the Trophy system since for some reason it counts towards SitRep Pro if you kill your own. Which turns getting SitRep Pro into 5 or 6 rounds of remembering to deploy it after every death, as opposed to 40 levels of hoping to find people deploying equipment like it was the first couple of times around for me. Though Betties and Claymores are more popular now so maybe it wouldn't be bad... Whatever, I don't care, I used my Prestige Token on that particular express pass and I'm not going to feel bad about using it

Aside from that I did the Regular Package and Hardened Package, and cleared out all the Custom Class slots, because let's face it, in the end those are the only things that are going to be useful. Especially since I tend to have 3 copies of the same basic class... that is same weapon/perk loadout and then different Strike Packages for each copy.

I swear some times they have some kind of programming in place that randomly affects the effectiveness of weapons. I can be in the same lobby, playing the same people I've been playing for 2 or 3 rounds, and the same weapon that was previously slaying people with impunity, suddenly becomes completely useless.

I know the answer probably boils down to lag/connection issues, but whatever it is, it's damned annoying. Every time I feel like I've found a solution to some of my suckiness, boom, I'm back to square 1.

Since i've started using SMGs exlusively my game has improved considerably (from bad to mediocre :p).. sure i lack punch, accuracy and kills at medium to long distance but then i was never that good of a shot to make kills consistent at these ranges.

Tried an assault rifle again for a map and i was even worse than before

So SMGs it is for me.. sometimes i still suck but less so than before.

I can certainly see where SMG's would help.... I never noticed this before, but your movement speed between AR's and SMG's is huge. I've largely been an AR user, but I've been using the SMG's more and more on specific maps just because of their usefulness in close-quarter and movement speed. I am much better on "Dome" with my SMG than my AR.

Same here, my game picked up a lot after switching to SMGs.

I'm actually using AR's sporadically again. I picked up a MK14 once when mySMG was nearly empty and I found it to be pretty good. And I just unlocked it, so I'm using on some maps where i feel like I might have longer sight lines.
