Well for starters, I'll just say that I don't play multiplayer. Just don't find it fun at all.
That said, this is easily the best Call of Duty SP campaign since the first Modern Warfare. The controls are as tight as they've ever been. The level design is WAY better than Black Ops, which I thought was a mess. The graphics were top notch, although I think Battlefield 3 was better there.
The story was also told much better than in MW2 and with nowhere near the clumsiness and plot holes of Black Ops. My only complaint is that there may be TOO many jumps between characters. Price and Yuri seem to get most of the focus whereas Frost isn't really developed much. Scenes such as the vacationing family seem sort of tacked on in attempts to be shocking that aren't really necessary.
Have got to say that nobody does over-the-top action like Infinity Ward. It's very action-movie oriented and outlandish at times, yet always visually impressive. However, in my current frame of mind, I prefer the more grounded realistic approach of Battlefield 3 and the recent Medal of Honor. those titles had outlandish elements as well, but they had a reality that, for me, Call of Duty sometimes lacks. I mean compare the recent CoD franchise to it's origins as a fairly realistic WWII shooter.
But overall, I'm very pleased. MW3 was much better than I was anticipating after the let-down of Black Ops and the reviews which seem to, for the most part, ignore the SP campaign in favor of the MP aspect. That said, having beat the SP, it's getting traded towards Skyrim on Friday.
