Some aspects of NEW AGE music sound middle-eastern. And even if anyone watched nuBSG it doesn't mean it's music would be liked more than TREK's. That is just speculation on your part. Since TREK music comes from the JOHN WILLIAMS/GOLDSMITH side of the house, and since they have won many Oscars and have sold more albums, in terms of soundtracks, I think TREK's music would still be more like...though, again, that is speculation on my part.
To me, no music is better than any other kind of music. When people try to say things like that it just comes off foolish since, as humans, thank God (or Gods for BSG fans) we all don't like the same music. And saying that one kind is better than another kind comes off a pure elite dribble.

In your original post, you were speaking to the recognizability of BsG's music. You said that most people wouldn't recognize it for what it was if a sample were played for them.
My contention is that if BsG were better-known, that recognizability factor would increase. I didn't even say a word about liking; you inserted that.

Oh, okay. Now that, I agree with. And who knows, it could even be more liked than TREK's, in some parts of the world.
I lived in India, and I happen to be a fan big fan of Indian music, which is why I was so glad SLUMDOG beat out the traditional Hollywood music this year at the oscars. Though India is considered in the far-east, I guess, its music certainly is one of the driving forces in the 'middle east' sound.

In some ways--though I would point out that Indian music uses a different scale than Middle Eastern music. I tend to go more towards the latter in my own preferences, though I am quite a fan of certain Indian music. (Particularly the work of the Shankars--Ravi and Anoushka.)
Huh, so that was you all along! I really do like all your work on this video. There's just something so fitting about hearing "Kira Nerys, reporting for duty" and the Dukat/Weyoun exchanges and similar lines set to this song.
Thanks, but Prelude to War is such a good track that even if it was set to nuns praying in silence it would still be awesome.
BSG hands down.
Does sound good, though the more "modern" uptempo bits sound raided from the recent Bond films. The rest is somewhat reminiscent of past Trek tracks and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," among works.
While I think voting for Trek is a no-brainer, it gets severely penalised for the rot that set in in the later years of TNG and plagued DSN and Voyager (their stirring, gorgeous opening themes aside).
So I voted for nuBSG more in protest at the frustratingly bland soundscapes that passed for a score on these Trek series.

I enjoy a lot of Star Trek music but Bear McCreary's work is particularly good, probably my favorite aspect of BSG these days.
I think that's a part of my own voting logic as well, but McCreary's work really is that great. If Trek music had been limited to the non-bland formulaic BGMs of the 90s, then I'd probably have a much harder time deciding my vote.
What about the music of Firefly? Some terrific music going on there.
You know that BSG's music (and BTW I refuse to call it nuBSG, that's too reminiscent of things like "nuMetal" or nuGoth" 
which is silly considering how superior the new BSG is to the old one) would beat Trek music by much more than 20% of votes if we were on any neutral forum. It's not even a contest. I would have a hard time even remembering any music from Trek shows other than the opening credits, and they are mostly bland as well. And I certainly wouldn't listen Trek music on its own. OTOH, I always enjoy listening BSG soundtracks for hours, and I know people who have become hooked on it by just hearing a couple of tracks, even though they have never even see BSG and aren't familiar with it. Giacchino's score for the new movie is better, but still miles behind Bear McCreary's work.

Which is a shame as Giacchino's score for UP! is fantastic. It's something I replay a lot. The score for Trek has its own ups and downs but ends up being a bit too repetitive.
Still, I'll take that over the stock music of the late 90s.

WTF?! NU BSG beating Star Trek in the polls. Why don't you call these boards the I secretly love BSG club. BSG is the family guy of sci fi, vacuous.
I don't think a reasonable person can listen to the BSG version of "All Along the Watchtower/Theme of the Final Five" or "Passacaglia" or "Allegro" and not come to the conclusion that BSG's music is much better and more sophisticated than most of Trek's.
Most of ST's music has been incredibly bland and lifeless, frankly. Anything from TNG before or after Ron Jones was pretty lifeless, and most all of the music from DS9, VOY, and ENT was soulless and unmemorable. The music from TOS was fun, but also a bit over-the-top.
The music from TMP, TWoK, TSfS, TVH, and TUC were all good. But the music for TFF sucked. The score for FC was good, and the score for INS was okay, but the scores for GEN and NEM were pretty forgettable.

And yet has a better soundtrack - this isn't my opinion on the show, this is my opinion on the soundtrack. Poll is about the soundtrack, not the show as a whole.
