Murray Gold definitely doing music for 2010 series

I'm glad to hear Gold's coming back. I don't care what other people think. I'm tired of composers whose TV (and often film) music is little more than that crap you hear in elevators, and that covers about 99% of TV. Gold's music is memorable and stands on its own, and I for one welcome him continuing in his role. My only request is that the recurring themes (and Gold actually understands the meaning of the word "theme") introduced under Tennant and Eccleston be retired as it's time to begin a new era (Eccleston and Tennant formed one era as far as I'm concerned) with new themes. (Except, of course for the one that plays over the opening and closing credits - I don't think any sane individual would ever consider replacing the Grainer/Derbyshire composition!)

For my money, "The Doctor's Theme" should be retained, too. But, yeah, every other theme should probably go now.

Can't wait to hear "Amy's Theme!"

Fleetlord, glad to see we're both on the same page about what will be released. Somehow I don't think we'll get a double disc.

Excellent news, as I have always enjoyed Murray Gold's music in Doctor Who. Look forward to hearing more of his excellent work.

I wonder if the music used in TEOT2 after the regeneration is a hint of a new "Doctor's Theme". It is quite different from what we've heard before.

It sounded like a new orchestration for "The Doctor's Theme" to me, apparently composed as a sort of farewell music for the Doctor's tenth incarnation.

Heck, all of the music for TEOTW sounded 'differnet' somehow. So much so that I had to double check the losing credits to make sure it was still Gold.

I've never really liked Murray Gold' version(s) of the theme music. I'd prefer it to have the weirdness of the very early versions (Hartnell to Baker eras). I like the eeriness of those early electronic sounds. It all sounds too light and fluffy at the moment!

Does anyone remember the rumors that were going on around here prior to the debut of the 2005 series that Sliptknot was going to be doing the theme to the new series? Did they ever do one? LOL

Well I guess we will wait and see if Gold says anything about releasing Music from the specials.

Hear, hear.
