Weren't the World Wars worse?
Why not? It’s a short song.Good song, scotpens, though you weren't supposed to post the entire lyrics . . .
Somebody's got to deal with it so who are you ganna call? Seriously though, I see the Mid-East problem getting worse before it gets better. The 21st century is going to be a teenager soon so massive change is bound to happen. Throughout history things like this have always happened. The problem we face today is the Earth is over populated and the consequences of our actions are more dire. That's why we see hundreds of thousands die in disasters instead of just a few hundred or a few thousand. We live in the atomic age, we have the ability to destroy humanity so easily. If you interpit the 2012 prophecy as the end of the world as we know it, then yeah I believe a great change is coming. It does seem like something is coming to a head.Shit happens.
He's right. That is, or was, the policy. We can double check to see if that's still the case.^ Posting entire song lyrics? That's not a problem. Posting an entire copyrighted article or story is, however. Are you sure that's not what RJ meant?

Yes, that's what I was thinking while reading the OP.Weren't the World Wars worse?
I am a firm believer that this planet has everything we need to feed us all and that we as humans have the knowledge and technology to be protected as much as possible from natural disasters. However, I also believe that this will never happen because humans think and act with their wallet and not with their heart.
While the loss of life in the Middle East is tragic, the people of those many countries rising up against tyrannical regimes of their own accord is a good thing, regardless of what the final outcome may be.

Shouldn't that be "depending on what the final outcome might be"?
Wiki: Electric Cars — Early HistoryI see a bad moon rising
New York City had a fleet of electric taxicabs in 1897, and a specially built electric vehicle surpassed 65 miles per hour in 1899.
. . . the first working electric car was made in the 1920's.
I am proven wrong. I had never heard of that.

Weren't the World Wars worse?
That's all that needs saying on the subject really, it renders the idea that we are spiralling towards some sort of apocalypse simply absurd.
Then we hunker down and wait for the Vulcans to arrive. But what if a third world war happens this century and nukes are used? That's all that needs saying on the subject really, it renders the idea that we are spiralling towards some sort of apocalypse simply absurd.Weren't the World Wars worse?
As I remember it, it was the same issue as Posting full articles; I have a vague recollection of an ongoing "Post Your Favorite Lyrics" Thread that had to be shut down. Maybe it was just the result of the outbreak of lawsuits mentioned by Count Zero and it blew over. In any case, the word from Bonz is that it's okay, so we have no problem here. He's right. Wow, how weird. This is the first I've heard of it being enforced as either a poster or a mod. I'm not doubting you, it's just that it's such a strange line in the sand to draw considering we have entire threads made up of YouTube videos of copyrighted songs in their entirety, which contain all the lyrics if you wanted to waste time writing them all down.
It's not like an article where if you post it in its entirety people have no incentive to follow the link back to the original site. I don't know of anyone that ever read the lyrics of a song, liked it, and then were satisfied with just having the lyrics alone. Where's the damage to the market value of the copyrighted work? Where's the incentive to profit from it here? How are the lyrics alone a substantial enough amount of the copyrighted material to be an issue? Usually the lyrics are used primarily for parody or educational purposes. It would seem like we'd be covered on fair use grounds.
I'm not expecting you to have to answer these questions, RJ (unless you want to), I was just curious about it and hoping one of the board's attorneys or musicians might have some idea of the legality of it.
