Hmmm, sounds like Kate was too busy to act, if we have her dating the Trek director Winrich Kolbe, fellow actor Robert Beltran AND Tim Hagan nearly simultaneously.
Maybe that's why Jeri went with Braga... Kate was too busy to give him the time of day?
That's pretty much what I had heard, JR and Katie. KM and Rick Kolbe were an item for a bit--which Mrs. Kolbe was not pleased about. Not sure of the truth, but it's a rumor that went around back then.
At that time, I had heard that RB and KM were seeing one another, that RB had gotten quite close to KM's boys, spending father-type time with them, and had taken KM to meet his mother. If that were all true, it sounds as if he was pretty serious about her. If she had started up with Hagen, it's understandable that RB would be upset and lose interest in the show in general. Who would want to see, everyday, the person who dumped you? And who would want love scenes with them?
The con may have been the Galaxy Ball, because I myself heard RB make such references there. That may have been why his date was upset with him later? She looked a bit pissed. Hot and blond, but definitely impatient while RB was talking with fans. Hey, she should have known it was going to be like that at a con, she was not going to be the center of his attention while he was in public.

Wow I didnt know they were that close. Now I definitely cannot wait for those autobiographies and I really hope she does what she promised and gives us all the juicy details...lol
As I hardcore J/C fan, I kind of like this gossip even if it may or may not be true. Then again, I strongly separate characters from actors. I love Janeway and Chakotay together because of their relationship as characters on the SHOW. However, I love Kate Mulgrew as an actress. Beltran not so much. :/

I mean...if they were coupling for a while in real life, that's cool with me. I don't care lol. And if it affected how the characters interacted in a positive way in early episodes, such as subtle touches and looks, that's great too. The J/C relationship is one of the main reasons I rewatch the earlier episodes even though I prefer the seasons with 7 of 9 overall.
If KM and RB were together like that...I guess I pretty much feel the same way as I felt when I found out about Siddig/Nana Visitor got married during DS9's run and had a baby. However, with them it was more like...I couldn't picture the characters together at all, but the actors, sure.
With KM/RB I have kind of the opposite feeling. It's not hard for me to imagine Janeway and Chakotay together at all...I mean, I ship J/C so of course. But, Kate Mulgrew and Robert Beltran just seem like really different people for some reason. Then again, I haven't met them! So who knows. One day....I will meet them one day!
As for the Janeway /Chakotay relationsship I have the same feeling. I love it.
With KM/RB I have the opposite feeling.
I love RB as an actor and in person (I `ve met him and he was great!). KM not so much.

I hope that was not the case. I think she genuinely cared for the character of Janeway, took it extremely seriously, and just wanted what she thought was best for the first female captain's image.

Yea, I know what you mean. I can totally picture janeway and chakotay as a couple. And I was sooooooooo disappointed after resolutions....I cant even vocalize it. thats why Im living for the J/C fanfics. Haha.
And i also like the idea of Kate and Robert having an affair and influencing the janeway chakotay relationship positivly...adding some tension and what not. awesome. Like.
And even if nothing of it is true I do like the gossip and indulging in that fantasy. Lol.

I was supposed to go to the Las Vegas con, but didn't have enough money at the time when the Gold tickets were on sale. I am planning to go to the one in San Fran though, Kate is supposed to be there.
I think Im gonna wait for KM to come to either England or germany. Thats cheaper for me and therefore more realistic for me.

Out of all the Trek people I've seen now she is by far the most entertaining. She loves doing cons from the look of it.
Now we just have to figure out where on the set they liked to do it.
