MU eye trouble. How?

So, "the singular biological difference between our species" according to Emperor Georgiou is that Mirror humans have an increased sensitivity to light.

Anyone want to speculate how this came about? Heavier cloud cover following nuclear winters on Mirror Earth? Everyone there spending too long indoors?

Less sunlight filters through Earth's atmosphere, making all life on the planet predisposed to being more sensitive to light.

The mirror universe's quantum signature causes slight differences in the human eye. "Their rods and cones are all screwed up!"

They never turn their lights on, eventually this has an impact on photosensitivity. Hell, I always have the light off if I'm watching TV or on the computer at night. And now any kind of sunlight is too much for my eyes to bear. Seriously, I need to wear sunglasses on dull gray-sky cloudy days, because even that is too bright for me.

Are we supposed to believe that all the continents on planet Earth are flipped right to left too? Does the Earth orbit counter-clockwise...? Canon doesn't support that Terran Empire emblem with Enterprise before, the Original yet to come or the patches given to humans under Cardassian/Klingon subjugation. And the Mirror universe isn't literally a mirror reflection, with everyone's faces and the partings in their hair the wrong way around. Like most things in Discovery the artistic licence to change for change sake, just goes one unnecessary step too far for me.

Parents and schools have little agony booths for their misbehaving children, and later, adults who infringe on traffic rules like jaywalking and speeding get their rods shortened in a booth too.

Does the Earth orbit counter-clockwise...?
The animated graphic of the Terran Empire logo used in the opening credits of the Enterprise episodes actually does show Earth spinning in the opposite direction. Though, in Disco the computer files the crew look up detailing the Terran Empire do include an animated logo with Earth spinning the proper direction.

Yes it does. Based on the way Earth is spinning in that clip, the sun would rise in the west and set in the east. Completely opposite of how it actually spins. Just watch the clip for yourself.

Well I'll be damned! It never occurred to me there was anything wrong with that rotation. Maybe I shouldn't put a higher wattage bulb on, just in case it blinds me.

Still not sure why the makers of Discovery decided all the land masses needed to be flipped...
