MS mouse with MS app question

I use the same mouse at work & at home, an MS Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2.

At home: Win7 x64, at work: XP x86.

It has the multiple buttons and the rear thumb button I have set as a double-click.

The issue is, only in MS apps (office 2007 at home, office 2003 & expression web 2 at work) the double-click action does not work.
That is, within the open or save dialogue window, when choosing a file to open or one to save over, the double-click doesn't work.

I either have to single click, then do the thumb button double-click, or hit the thumb button twice.
Kind of defeats the purpose of having the button set that way.

In all other apps, it works fine. What's the deal here? MS hardware doesn't work properly with MS apps?

Anyone else have this problem?

My old MS mouse came with it's own mouse driver to install, which I think had application specific settings. Have you tried going to the Control Panel and checking the mouse settings to see if it has something like that?

^ There are "program-specific settings", which I had never tinkered with, so I checked the box and assigned the buttons for each of the 4 apps.

Made no difference to the open/save dialogue boxes though , they still do the same thing.

Good idea though, those settings may affect the apps in other ways.
