I chanced by this book one day. It is written for the layfolks like us Trekkies. I was surprised. The author is a Harvard trained Physician who is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians London ( MRCP ). He is also a Trekkie. I was surprised that he discussed Carl Sagan and the fact that the so called science Fiction methodology of Bones MD is now state of the art medicine inspired by the technique of the Star Trek series. He also explained that the mind Fusion as described by Spock is already being explained by the a technique called FMRI. The stories are hilarious and both my husband and children love it as this is where Science Fiction meets Art.:guffaw:

So, you're pimping the book, but you're not the author, eh? And it's interesting that the above text, word for word, is also on fanpop.com and other forums. It's also interesting that this is your very first post here, and was apparently your first (or, someone's first) post there, and on each website I found the verbatim text.

On the one hand, this is Spam 101 stuff, going around to message boards and registering for the purpose of this one post, the standard “I just randomly came across this and was so impressed I wanted to share it with you” pitch, and so on.

On the other hand, this is truly bizarre. Who does this kind of thing to pimp a medical textbook on TV message boards?

IBTL!

IBTL (again, can't be bothered posting a gif)

Well we should feel slightly better that spammers are trying to sell us medical textbooks and not strange "relationship enhancing" visual materials (wait...TOS forum gets those)

I will agree this doesn't have much discussion related to Star Trek (and, even if it had, the nature of the discussion that has less followed makes the thread more or less valueless). As to the motives of the original poster, I'll just say welcome to TrekBBS and feel free to keep posting. Just make sure the topic is something that can actually encourage discussion and, if you're not sure, perhaps its best to start by contributing to other, existing threads until you are sure.

And, seriously guys, not one notification?
