Mr. Spock, I've brought you some assorted vegetables...

I love most vegetables. I love most grains. I love most meats. I love eggs and dairy. My body is designed to function best on a judicious mix of the nutrients that I get from all of these these, and my taste buds are also designed to enjoy all of these, so that's what I do - eat them all in suitable proportions. If anybody chooses differently, that's fine with me, so long as they don't lecture the rest of us. I mean, I don't lecture them...even when somebody (I am thinking here of one dear but occassionally extremely self-righteous friend) makes it very tempting. V-e-e-e-e-r-r-r-r-y tempting.

I like steak, pork, chicken, fish and most varieties of seafood.

I also like vegetables but I am not such a big fan of Vulcans that I would EVER consider becoming a vegetarian or vegan.

Infact, my wife is busy making a turkey for tonight. It's not a holiday but it is Tuesday and that is reason enough to have the awesome bird for supper.

Long live MEAT!

This is an honest, friendly inquiry: why do you see animals and plants as different? Both have life, and responses to external stimuli. Is it because we can exist without meat but (obviously) not without plants? :)
My sympathy goes to the most obviously feeling & sentient.
And I will not eat what I would not kill- that's basically it. I would kill a carrot in an instant. A cow? Not so much.;)

I certainly have respect for those who wish to be vegetarian for whatever reason, although I am an omnivore.
However, if God came to me and told me I could eat anything without it ever hurting my health, I'd be piling on the meat like nobody's business!

I'd be piling on the meat like nobody's business!
As an honest (mostly) vegetarian, I can say that burning flesh on a grill certainly smells good, but I still got no real desire to partake.
Pizza? Now I smell THAT & get out of my way!!!:guffaw:

I won't eat veal or lamb, and I make sure that the meat and eggs I buy are from farms that treat their animals humanely. 'Bout it for me. No plomeek soup, thanks.

I've been a vegetarian for a few years now. I don't look down on omnivores and I'm perfectly comfortable eating with one, but my own conscious demands I abstain from eating animals. I'd grown up in a Buddhist household, so I never really ate much in the way of meat growing up. It was relatively easy to give the habit up completely. With how profoundly growing livestock for human consumption contributes to ecological destruction and third-world poverty, never have I regretted my decision. Also, the rationale of causing another creature pain because it's tasty doesn't sit with me very well. Vegetarianism was the sensible choice for my own set of ethics, but I wont force it onto others.
