Mr Spock - He used the wrong word !

Could we have a couple more hints? Is the word in question a noun, verb, adjective, or other?

Okay, I'll take a stab at what the OP is thinking:

"Tomorrow is Yesterday"

Spock says that Capt. Christopher made no "relevant contribution" that the future would depend upon.

Later, Christopher misquotes Spock as supposedly saying no "relative contribution." Spock lets it pass, and dryly says "Poor choice of words on my part."

That is not the answer.

I don't want to make it easier then it already is.

i will say that if you watched the episode it should have stuck in your head as an odd choice of word for Mr Spock.

Alright then. The last letter of the first word is e.

How about Spock's Biblical allusion to the lilies of the field in "The Trouble with Tribbles."

But that wasn't just one word.

There is no point to this thread other than to prove who can read minds or stumble on the "correct" answer by random chance. The offered clue that one of the words in the episode's title starts with a "T" (assuming that means at least one of the words and includes words like "the", "to", "that", etc) narrows it down to something like 48 episodes. This wild goose chase has no payoff to the (arguable) "winner", so why play along?

This answer is not satisfactory. Or fascinating. But it is interesting.

Spock used the wrong synonym!

I think Spock should have said inconspicously not surreptitiously.

Q: Am I right or is @kerchan right?

A: We're both right. It's only an opinion. Or as Spock might say an individual presupposition. :vulcan:

You ruined the fun and the award with your threat.

Spock used the word 'sneak' instead of surreptitious.

He sneaked the power down instead of he has surreptitiously turned down the power down.

The Corbomite Maneuver

Thanks for ruining my first thread.
Methinks backtalking the Moderator isn't the best approach...

The better way to do a "fun" thread is to make it a game. "I noticed Spock used an incorrect-for-Spock word in an episode. Can you guess what it is, or do you have candidates of your own?" because that's an actual discussion topic, as opposed to "guess what?".

Kind of similar to The Cage where Spock says "If we go buzzing about down there....."

That's not even wrong. "To sneak" is a perfectly valid transitive verb for the act of trying to do something in a way that avoids notice.

If you mean to say that the usage seems too informal for Spock, keep in mind that this was only the third produced episode in which Spock had appeared, and his character was still being refined.

LOL - as it turns out, he did contribute a relative. :)

There we have it, straight from an author's keyboard.

And since the OP has deleted his angry reply, I think we're done here.
