Mr Data

Taylirious

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Favorite TNG character. What is your favorite Data EP? For me it is tough. I love 'The Offspring' but liked 'Brothers' a lot too.

My favourite Data episodes were probably the ones where we got to see him in command, such as Redemption Part II or Gambit. I always thought his character came across really well in a command role.

Hmm...
Hmm........
I'd say Genesis, believe it or not. I like the way Data sort of seamlessly slipped into the role of ship's physician. I remember thinking it might have been neat if he'd been the doctor.

I've always liked Data's Day, despite being a bit of a lightweight episode it gave Brent Spiner a chance to flex his dead-pan comedic muscles. Case in point, the 'smile' when he's dancing with Crusher

Yes, me too. To see "an ordinary day" from Data´s unique perspective on things was a very interesting approach and it turned out as one fun episode.

Measure of a Man
(Spoilers)
After all that Riker was forced to put him through, in order to save his life, Data still seeks him out and lets him know that he appreciated what he did - and then invites him to come celebrate with him. Even though it's really all about Data, this is a very good Riker episode. When he's preparing his case against Data and he marvels, for a second, at how Data was manufactured, then his face drops suddenly, because he realizes what he's going to have to do with that information ... these are some great Riker moments. I don't really think too much about Riker's friendship with Data, because Data seems tight with Geordi, mostly. But here, we get to see what Data means to him and how far he's willing to go to protect him. The "courtroom" scene is pretty standard stuff, and it goes on too long for my tastes, but everything else in this episode is really strong. This is a very good TNG episode.

I enjoy Brent Spiner's acting, so I like the episodes in which he plays multiple roles. Brothers is a favorite for that reason. Measure of a Man isData's pivotal episode, and also in my opinion one of the best episodes of the series. I also really like Data's Day for the reasons stated below, just a light, comfy episode with some (for Trek) good comedy.

Yes, "Brothers". Data is not high on my list as a character, but Brent Spiner always did good work with him. In "Brothers", he was working his ass off.

Brothers was fantastic. When he did the whole bit with Lore after finding out that Soong was dying. That was great. Genuine concern for his "father" but his true nature would prevail and he would kill him later.

My top Data episodes, that other people said:

Brothers
Measure of a Man
Offspring
Data's day

I'd also mention
Most Toys: At the end, Data LIES! He was about to murder Fajo , justifiably, but still, it's DATA. Shocking!

Thine Own Self: Another great Data episode. Even when he has no memory, Data is still DATA!

Unification: I loved the part where he and Picard are altered to appear Romulan, and on the way there in a BOP, they share a room. Data goes to sleep, just standing there, STARING at Picard! One of the few episodes that reminds us Data is still a machine! I LOLed at that scene!

Inheritance: where Data meets his "mother," who ends up being a Soong-type android. If memory serves, this established that Data could theoretically appear to age.

All good things: I simply LOVED Basil Rathbone Future Data, complete with white streak and smoking jacket! He was so "Continental!"

The payoff in the scene is when Data does turn away from Picard, there's a slight reaction in his eyes as if he's thinking the captain is behaving somewhat irrationally.

Many to choose from but Offspring is my favorite.

AGT has some of my favorite Data moments though and I loved Picard's line "Mr. Data, you're a clever man, ... in any time period."

I love Data too! Him and Picard are probably my favourites, though I also like La Forge and Worf.

My favourite Data episodes have been mentioned though. I'd say Measure of a Man is the best, sharply followed by The Offspring. He was great in Brothers and Clues too.

Its interesting how not giving him a first name keeps him from ever actually being treated like a life form. "Mr Data" and "the android" become interchangeable in a way that wouldn't happen if he was Robert Data, good ol' Bob.

I like the one where Data travels back in time to the late 20th Century and takes a job as a recurring character on TV show called "Night Court."
