Movies you can watch whenever they're on...

What movies do folks around here watch whenever they're on, outside of Trek?

One that I've probably watched a dozen times here lately is Red with Bruce Willis and Karl Urban.

Something about the combination of a great cast, fun one-liners and big explosions make it incredibly entertaining. :techman:

Hell, I'm watching it right now on Showtime.

Three that comes immediately to mind:

Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler's best movie)
Titanic (I really do like this movie)
Groundhog Day (One of the greatest comedies of all time)

Just off the top of my head:

Flash Gordon (the campy 80's version)

Night of the Hunter (with Robert Mitchum).

Shadow of a Doubt

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Brides of Dracula (my favorite Hammer film)

And, yeah, Groundhog Day is sublime.

I really don't like to watch movies on TV unless I can watch them from the beginning and they're on a premium channel.

For comedies I'd have to say What About Bob? with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss and Drowning Mona with Bette Midler and Danny DeVito always get my attention when they're on.

I'll watch A Few Good Men because it's one of my favorite movies.

Also, Airplane. That movie is one you can pick up halfway through even if you wanted to.

Goodfellas. I end up channel-surfing by it and watch it to the end. The same with The Matrix.

I know there's more but they aren't coming immediately to mind but for a start: Bond movies. They get marathoned a lot these days from one channel to the next and I have very little problem watching them once I've flipped to them.

Alien is another, I've watched that many many times and never actually intended to. Mad Max, Waterworld, starting to come to me now....

Three Amigos is another.

^^^ Just beat me to it! Yes, Bond movies. Of course.

Sure, I've seen each one hundreds of times over the decades. I own them all on disc, I can watch any of them whenever I want.

But if I'm flipping channels and Bond is on... I can't turn away. Come on, it's Bond!

Night of the Hunter (with Robert Mitchum).
That's a great movie.

Others that I repeatedly watch:
The Bedford Incident
Fast Times At Ridgemont High
Forbidden Planet
Soylent Green
Planet of the Apes (the original)
Doc Hollywood
On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Planet of the Apes would have been on my list for years, but I watched it so many times that I finally had to take a break from it.

Ditto for some of my favorite Marx Bros. movies. By the time I'd memorized every routine and monologue, I had to sit back and let the memories fade a bit before I could watch them again.

Oh, one more contender:

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein.

I Robot
Disorganized Crime
Batman Begins
Midnight Run
(probably the best one for this on this list)
Star Trek First Contact

Keep in mind, I never watch TV, so the films I listed are DVDs or BluRays I pop in whne I cant think of anything else

The Time Machine, with Rob Taylor. If I'm clicking channels and stumble upon this, I always have to stop and watch.

Also:
Rear Window
The Birds

JAWS
Local Hero
Singing in the Rain
My Favorite Year

Airplane
Naked Gun 1 & 2
The Mummy
Star Trek: First Contact
Aladdin
The Lion King
The Emperor's New Groove
Terminator 2

I have most of my fav films on disc, but a few that I've flipped to and watched to the end on many occasions...

Jaws
True Grit / The Shootist
Three Amigos (I don't own this one, but am a fan)
Any Bond film
