Moviehole reports Trek budget at 150-160 million...

At a cost of $1.5m per episode, they could just do a new series of 5x20 episode seasons.

I'd rather have that, but at this point, I'm happy enough with any new Star Trek.

TV Trek now might cost more then 1.5 per episode due to prices of everything being more now.

I was serious and could you please contact PowderedToastMan and ask to be a representative of concerned fans and ask Paramount to spend less.

You can call. Learn what I learned over the course of my life, never have someone else do something when you can do it yourself.

Do you remember that film made with home video cameras costing only a $1000 or less to make but made at least $60 million.Something to do with forests and ghostly beings.

I just handed out multiple warnings in another thread and started a crackdown on the issue related to them so it would look hypocritical, especially now, if I said what I thought and broke the rules.

In other words vast budgets dont guarantee success and actually jeopardises future trek films.

No, budgets don't guarantee success but I figure there are two reasons why this movie has been given its budget: 1) they honestly believe ST XI's profit will justify the expense, 2) the revenue of other movies would make up for ST XI's potential losses and, incidentally, keep JJ Abrams -- someone they want and not just for Star Trek -- happy at the same time.

As far as future movies, this one is a test balloon. The TOS movies ran their course, TNG fizzled out at the movies, this is their chance to see if they should still make Star Trek movies anyway even without the television casts.
