Movie/TV Double-Dip Buys

If I were to ever double dip it would be on Farscape, or somewhere where you would notice the different. A comedy on blu-ray I wouldn't care about.

The Wizard of Oz: VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray

Also TOS Complete: VHS/DVD - no interest in remastered, not popping again

TNG: Seasons 1-2 VHS/DVD Complete, no interest in remastered, not popping again

TOS Movies 1-6 VHS/Collector's Editions DVD - Blu Ray, see above reason

TNG Movies 1-3 VHS/DVD 1-4, Double Dipped with Nemesis in DVD (original release and Collector's - God knows why!)

Star Trek (2009) - DVD and Blu Ray (mainly so the kids could have their own copy for their portable DVD player)

Star Wars Eps. 4-6 VHS/DVD (Blu Ray....not popping)

Do DVD/Blu Ray/Digital Copy "Value Packs" count??? *DUCKS*

One thing I will NEVER DD on is tv shows. That sounds like it would cost a fortune to replace all those seasons.

I admit I wince every time I look at all the VHS "Xena" tapes on my shelf. Not looking forward to updating all of those seasons . . ..

I feel bad for those fans that recorded ENTIRE shows on VHS and now have to trash the whole thing. Talk about a waste of time.

It was only a waste of time if there was a better method of preserving the shows at the time. Which, generally speaking, there wasn't.

I recorded every episode of TNG through the fifth season or so. Then replaced those recordings with DVDs. Now those DVDs sit in a box because I can stream any episode of Trek via Netflix far easier than sorting through boxes and changing out disks.

Alright, calling it a waste of time might have been harsh. But storing all those VHS tapes were really a pain wasn't it?

The only thing I've ever double dipped on was Firefly. I bought my first DVD set the day it came out, and after watching (and re-watching) it, I loaned it out to a several people. One day Target had it on sale for $20, so I picked up a second copy for my own use so I could have a loaner set where I didn't really care if something happened to it.
My DVD player is still going strong so I haven't upgraded to Blu-Ray yet, but I'm sure I'll be double dipping on Trek and Star Wars when the time comes.

I DD-d the movie when the "special edition" came out.

I won't be buying any blue rays any time soon so long as they continue to make dvds. The stupid things are as much as 50% more expensive than dvd per unit.

Storing was a pain, but the realpain was making sure you got everything labeled properly or else you'd never find that one random thing.

Yers it was, I think at one point I had some 3000 video tapes. An assortment of films but mostly TV shows.

We've given away a few, but Hubby double-dipped DVD-to-bluray on--mainly to get the digital for his niece:

Cars
Lion King
Incredibles
Beauty and the Beast
Harry Potter 1-6
Toy Story, then Toy Story 1 & 2, THEN the trio! Still not sure if there are differences in the extras.

There's likely more, but these are the ones we have out to get rid of.

He prefers physical format to downloading stuff. I don't care, but this is so not worth any battle, so I let him do what he wants on this.

Btw, we have well over 300 titles.
