Movie Credits for the Star Trek Teaser Trailer

I know that a lot of people here were speculating about what order the actors will be listed on the trailer. Well, here is a screencap from my computer of the official teaser trailer on YouTube:

Sorry that the names are fuzzy at the sides, that is the way the trailer looks like at different parts. As you can see, the listing is alphabetical, with the exception of Eric Bana and Leonard Nimoy being at the end (I don't know what the significance is of their placement- "with Eric Bana and Leonard Nimoy").

I was mainly surprised to see Ben Cross and Winona Ryer listed as equals with the actors playing the main TOS roles.

Is this what you thought the credits would look like?

I think it's the fairest way to put them by being alphabetical way.

The "with" and "and" are regarded as prestigous spots in the credits like

"With Beau Bridges and Michael Shanks"

yeah, they are generally used for big stars who are in a film but it's not their film and in many cases also is a sign of very limited screen time.

So althought Bana is the bad guy I'll be surprised if he gets significant screen time.

^^ I think Bana will get significant screen time, thus the reason for separating him from 'the rest' of the cast...AND since he is the biggest name actor in the cast (he is bigger than Ryder is RIGHT NOW).

As I said in another thread, Nimoy is listed separately for obvious reasons.

By the way, the new website ( http://www.paramount.com/startrek/ ) has the cast in the same order. You may need to scroll down to see the cast listing.

I just don't think he will - I think he will serve part of a wrapper with Nimoy (pure guesswork on my part). This is what wiki says about the "and"

An actor may receive "last billing", which usually designates a smaller role played by a famous name. They are usually credited after the rest of the lead cast, prefixed with "and" (or also "with" if there is more than one, as Samuel L. Jackson was in the latter two Star Wars prequels). In some cases, the name is followed by "as" and then the name of the character. This is not the case if that character is unseen for most of the movie (see Ernst Stavro Blofeld).

Remember too, this is only the teaser. They may not do it "alphabetical" in the movie credits.

^^I thought that too, but the website lists the credits in the same order as the teaser. Will the Movie Poster have a couple cast names above the main title? Will the credits in the actual film have this same order (I think we will only see the acting credits at the END of the film).

Time will tell.

It's a sans serif monospaced font, so that alone ruins the movie.

I hope they rearrange the credits for the movie itself, it just wouldn't feel the same without Kirk, Spock, and McCoy listed first. Regardless of who's playing them.

Credits are negotiated and agreed to in writing. It would be very unusual for them to change.

Indeed, it would be strange if the credits changed midway through production. On the other hand, it would be just as strange to have Sulu and Sarek credited before Kirk and Spock...

Then again, this is how J.J. Abrams likes to do it. Lost for example: It also has several supporting actord credited above what's definitely the star of the show, Matthew Fox, because they, well, come first in the alphabet... Good for John Cho!

See...This is a hidden message. All this time, all those rumors have been false! The movie is really about Sulu and Serek's untold adventure where wacky hijinks ensue!

It will be the ultimate buddy movie!

Could you imagine if he did that for MI:3? From a quick look at the IMDB credits, the people who played the high-profile roles of "Julia's Kidnapper," "Davian's Bodyguard", and "Musgrave" would have been before Tom Cruise!

By the way, If you separate the "Big 3" from the rest, and list them alphabetically, you will get:

Pine
Quinto
Urban

...Just like the order for their characters in the TOS opening credits.
