"Movie Changes"

Small White Car

Ok, forget all this "altered timeline" stuff. I don't want to talk about that here.

I'm talking about "Movie Changes." Things that are changed just because it's a movie.

For example:
Kirk's face is different
The bridge has way more computer panels
The uniforms have texture on them

None of those are because the timeline changed. They're just because this is a movie and not a 40 year old TV show. (Kind of like why the Klingons looked different in the 80's films than they did in the TV show.)

So what other things can you imagine for the next films?

Me? I'm tired of the "humans with little bumps" aliens of TNG. I say they should make the freaky big-eyed nurse from the Kelvin as what Betazoids look like now!

Any other ideas for future movies?

I loved the Big Eyed Nurse, she can come with me to an anime con anytime!!!

(Imagines Big Eyed Nurse in Sailor Fuku) - *shudder*

It was nice to see some non-humanoid races on the bridge, which reminded me of The Animated Series. A lot of this was due to budgets and technology not available in 1966. The aliens had more of a Star Wars flavor to them, though I think we've always known they existed in Trek, just never seen.

Did anyone else notice that the phasers switched from stun to kill by changing emitters? That was an interesting touch. I'd like to see what they do with food dispensers.

Although we have seen, in a few of the movies, a wide variety of exotic alien extras. There were a bunch of them in the Federation Council scenes in Star Trek IV and present during the Khitomer Accords in Star Trek VI. Then there was the bar that Dr. McCoy went to in Star Trek III, which was totally Star Wars cantina-ish.

The sets had much higher ceilings, and there were more large rooms in the movie (which I liked, it felt a lot more ship like to me)

Also I love the idea of the nurse being a Betazed, and I like the idea of continuing that out to other species - I'd love for them to tweak the Trill and the Bajorans for example and really emphasize their defining characteristics

Why were there no Andorians in the movie? They are my favorite Federation aliens.

Did Nero destroy Andoria 25 years in the past or something?

You'd think with Vulcan and Andoria being founding members of the UFP, there would be a lot more of them represented in Starfleet.
