Movie 2 TOS inspiration

I really wouldn't want the next movie to be a mere adaptation of an old Star Trek episode.

I'd rather see something that was more inspired by Trek's premise of "strange new worlds" and truly set the movie on an alien world with "new lifeforms," which wouldn't really be possible on a television budget and would be on the large motion picture budget Paramount seems to be willing to spend on this iteration of Trek.

I'm not against the idea of them remaking an original series episode. My choices would be 'Space Seed', 'The Doomsday Machine', 'Errand of Mercy', 'Arena', or 'The Enterprise Incident'.

Because we are in the 11+ board, I just wrote 2 instead of 12, since we're considering a new series.

I'd like to see a remake of Amok Time. Since Spock now has Uhura, Kirk would try to win since he thinks T'Pring is hot.

That said, I really hope they don't use anything from the series, and just make an entirely new, original story.

I think this would be the best and safest way to go...tho, they could throw in a few cameo's for old time Trekker's; Commodore Matt Decker on the view screen giving Kirk his orders.

Or something like that.

And since they know how to do that, there would still be an hour fifty five left to do another story. :D

Exactly. A neat way to homage the Original while still charting new paths.

As I originally said, about Khan's ship, I see the Enterprise cruising along when a crew member announces "Sir, I have a item on Mister Spocks 'list of dangerous items', (or whatever it would be called) to destroy on sight... It's the "Botany Bay". "Understood. Target that ship." "Ready sir." "Fire." Exterior shot - Botany Bay vaporizes & Enterprise flies though it's debris cloud towards uncharted adventure.

I like the idea of taking a short few moments to kill the planet killer. But Star Trek is about valuing life so I do object to vaporizing the Botany Bay. Instead they could tow it with a tractor beam and have them thawed out an awaken in a fortified prison.

As much as I hate to admit it, that does sound like the right thing to do but it leaves the door open for an escape story. Something the Suits may not be able to resit given Khans popularity. Vaporizing them sends a clear message - no Khan rehash in the Nuverse.

Short little homages which address and finalize Prime Universe issues set within new story-lines are the way to go, imo.

Not in the NuUniverse. All bets are off. Just ask Nero. Even if you're seconds away from being crushed in a black hole Kir's more than willing to take the time to fire everything at you, even if it means almost getting caught himself. NuKirk's a mean sumnabitch.

To be honest I would like to see them adapt aspects of a TOS episode for the next Star Trek movie. It has to be 2 hours now anyway. I think the creativity is bringing aspects in as almost easter eggs but not just remaking it longer, they do that and they will end up with the Motion Picture. My votes would be the balance or terror, space seed, the enterprise incident, or the Errand of Mercy. I might be in the minority here but I want the classic villains back, I want bad Klingons or Romulans, and since the Romulans were in the last movie I say Klingons. But it could still be a Balance of Terror like story.

One thing I want to see in the next film is exploration, and some sort of deeper moral. I absolutely do not want to see Space Seed, as we've already had Wrath of Khan.
