Moved to tears by 6 little notes

Rÿcher

Fleet Captain
You know in Stargate seasons 5 and 6 where a lot of heavy stuff was going on with Dr. Jackson? There was his death and his visiting Teal'c in his dreams when he lost his symbiote.

When Jackson was dying, there was 6 to 8 piano notes that were the simplest, saddest, most fitting notes one could have written or heard for that moment.

2:52 and again at the end when O'Neill says his goodbye.

And then in "Changeling" when Daniel tells Teal'c he'll always be there for him, the same notes play and the same tears come running.

I have Asperger's and anyone who knows anything about the condition knows that anyone with it has a hard time expressing emotion like that but to see me watching that, you'd hardly believe I have it.

Yes it is indeed beautiful stuff, very well done and timed.

Shame they really screwed up Daniel's character from season 7 onwards

Yes, those few haunting notes really do help to bring out the emotions. That's one of my favorite scenes.

So... see you around?
... I.don't.know.

Even in a touching scene there were funny moments. God I miss this show.

Meridian was a fantastic episode and one I have a hard time watching even now after the show has already ended and two movies have come and gone. I have only actually watched that episode in it's entirety twice, I'm a huge Daniel fan and it's only my list of Michael Shank's top five episodes. I just can't watch it without tearing into a box of kleenex.

I watched Meridian again yesterday. As always, it brought a tear to me eye :)

And I also find a great and moving piece of music the one that plays for example in Redemption, if I remember correctly, where Teal'c enters the tent and sees his dead wife.

I think Meridian is one of the few episodes I can watch over and over again, and still just weep like a baby.

I miss the old SG1. It really had some wonderful moments.

Meridian is a really great episode. Even if Daniel's death/ascension thing later turned into one of the show's worse plot devices, that still doesn't change the great work of art Meridian is and how enjoyable to watch it can be.

Also, Daniel's death theme is perhaps one of the best pieces of music composed for the series.

I agree it is great music. If I recall correctly, don't they use elements of that when Daniel materializes for guest appearances, like The Abyss and The Changeling?

I have Asperger's too, and for some reason beyond me, sci fi clicks into my psyche better than anything else, and some of my strongest displays of emotion have been during sci fi. Doctor Who's Journey's End still has me blubbing every time.
