Motorola Droid vs Droid Bionic?

Hey, looking for anyone that may have experience with both of these phones. I currently have the original Motorola Droid and was thinking of getting the Bionic as a cheap upgrade. The only worry I have is the quality of the screen. How does the Bionic's compare to the original Droid's? I know the Bionic is larger, but is the image quality at least the same or better as the Droid?

Mate, its not even a competition. I dont quite think that the word epic ownage is enough to describe that comparison. Its like putting up a bently against a renault clio.

I had the original droid (milestone) for a while and i quite liked it. I've never used the bionic, but purely based off the specs, it doesnt stand a chance.

At work I've heard the site gsmarena.com (hope that's right) mentioned as a good site to get the run down on various celphones,

you can also read a review on the bionic

The Bionic was heavily delayed so it really doesn't stand up to the phones that came out even a few months later. My recommendation would be to get the Galaxy Nexus. It is really the only Android phone I would recommend to anyone right now.

Yeah, until the Galaxy Nexus drops to $20 like the bionic, I think I'll skip it. Besides, the Bionic is getting the ICS software upgrade.

Better off just waiting then. The Bionic only came out a few months before the Nexus, Razr, Rezound, (and a bit later the) Droid 4, etc. If it is already in the bargain bin then they can't be too far from it.

^The problem with that is something better is always "right around the corner". The price break here is right for me to get a phone that is a signifcant upgrade for cheap and will be getting the ICS update. In 2 years, I'll do it again and avoid the "bleeding edge" prices will still having a relevant phone.

Sure, the best of the bleeding edge is always right around the corner, but the Bionic was never a great phone to begin with. Personally, if Im going to lock myself into a 2 year contract it is going to be for a good goddamn reason. Also remember that even though Google just bought Motorola, there is no promise that updates will come out within a reasonable timeframe or without Moto/Carrier bloatware that you can't uninstall.

In any case, it sounds like you've made up your mind.

Yeah, the bionic got a lot of bad initial reviews, but from my research it seems software updates have made it into a solid performer. The hardware stats on the phone are solid and it will be a big improvement over my original Droid. I can wait for the ICS update comfortable in the knowledge that it is on the list. Plus, I can always root it and install a custom rom.
