Motivation and Bad Guys

That's true as well, but it carries forward so many of the elements of TOS that to tug on that one, is to start unraveling a lot of facets of TOS.

And, as odd as it sounds, I have had experience with people who have been surrounded by death and the way they coped and were able to function in society was to go out in to the danger again. So, it's alien to me, but I've seen it happen in real life.

I can understand that. I guess part of it is trying to find something positive in what happened instead of dwelling on the dark side, which to bring it back to Star Trek is what happened to Krall.

I suppose what I've been trying to get across is that I felt Beyond had a somewhat jumbled message compared to the previous movies with the villain being a big part of it.

I can some what agree on the message, but I think that goes to Krall and his presentation, rather than how the film ended. Star Trek very rarely ends on a dour note, and I wouldn't expect this movie to be any different.

I would like to add some thoughts on whether Shinzon was crazy and whether that justifies attacking earth. My biggest problem with this argument isn't whether or not he is crazy but how it was depicted or should have been depicted to make sense on a movie level. If you want Shinzon to attack earth because he is mentally ill and it has created this impulse to get revenge on humans then you got to set that stuff up in advance. Show scene's of him as a child expressing hatred for humans or have him look at Picard and the rest of the humans as elitist assholes. Maybe even have someone point out the illogic of attacking earth in the actual movie and explain why he feels this way even if it doesn't make sense.

I got to agree that the character was simply, badly written and his motivation feels more tossed onto him just because someone above felt that earth needed to be put in danger for drama, even if it's a played out cliche by now.
