Mother's Day Crowds?

Saved a seat for her at my IMAX showing today... but didn't take her as she passed last year. First Trek movie without her and hot damn she would've LOVED this one! :)

Sweet gesture.

My mom's in Germany, so nope.

But I think moms feature heavily in this film--Kirk and Spock moments--so that they would actually enjoy this movie.

Probably would be good for the Trekkies to drag--er, invite--their moms to the movie. Extra box office.

Remember though, dinner first, then the show.

I didn't, because my Dad decided to take her last night, otherwise we probably would have went as a family or something.

My mother lives in a different state. But even if she didn't, I wouldn't have taken her to this movie. This move is not really the sort of film you take a little old lady to, really.

However, I must say that I was quite impressed with the crowd in my theatre. I went to the 4:15 showing, which ended in the middle of the dinner hour, and my theatre was almost full. Only open seats were on the first couple of rows. Not bad at all for the dinner hour on Mother's Day.

My oldest son bought me a ticket to see the movie. He had to work today, so he's treating me to the movie on Tuesday. (I've seen it three times, and he's seen it once, but he knows how much I have always loved Star Trek, so he wanted to see it again with me!)

Mom is half a country away, so no. Called her though. The topic of whether dad was going to take her came up - yes, but not until, wait for it...

Tuesday! I swear to God; I ain't lying!

My Mom has been gone since '88, but I think she would have liked this movie, especially since she was a first generation Trekkie, watchin' TOS when it was just new Star Trek every week.

As for a crowd, there was one at the theater me & a few folks from the Austin Pan-Geeks went to today. The 3:35 show was sold out, and the 4:30 show had a line waitin' to get in, and the theater was over half full.

Good times.
